I was always talking about the emotional effect on outcomes,and how "sorry" might be seen as an admission, but perhaps I wasn't precise enough with the language and tightened up as we became more legalistic in our debate. The car accident comment was possibly not quite apposite because it applies in a much more concrete situation.

And, yes, you are right, I do not believe Judges are uninfluenced by their emotions and prejudices, any more than you are, or I am, no matter how hard they try.

I think its the legal system that should be complained about for letting lawyers get away with what they get away with, not the lawyers themselves.

Seriously she may be about to become a good lawyer. Politics demands a different kind of aggression and sharpness from that that may make you good in another profession.
