So why will there be a reduction in CO2 output?

The basic idea of a carbon tax is that it will improve the economic competitiveness of low-carbon-intensity products (e.g. wind power) compared to high-carbon-intensity products (e.g. fossil fuel power).

Both consumers and producers will try to avoid paying some of the tax by avoiding or reducing their usage of higher-carbon-intensity products and services.

The tax also raises revenue - some of which will likely go towards research and development of low-carbon-intensity technologies.

Petrol prices are not going up?

My mail is that the Carbon Price applies to the heavy vehicles that move the Petrol and to the Electricity bills of both the refinery and the local servo. Who do the oil companies and servo owners pass these increased costs on to? Are the Federal Government just going to cut them a cheque so that the manufacturing componant cost of the petrol is not raised at the pump?

Hence the compensation we will receive through tax cuts and above indexation pension increases

Cant belive so many people fall into the trap of the scare campaign.
Are we getting compensation in the Coalitions $720 a year grab from EVERY Australian Family? NO Wake up people
