Full credit for the 2.15pm publication time too, when the press conference was at 2.30pm. That's even quicker than "breaking news".

I'm lead to believe that Cabinet changes will include:

Tom Koutsantonis will take on Industry and Trade, plus Small Business.
Michael O'Brien gets Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Forests and Regional Development.
Jay Weatherill will take on Education, and keep Early Childhood Development.
Paul Caica will get Environment and Conservation, plus the River Murray/Water.

New Ministers
John Rau(Attorney General, Justice, Tourism).
Jack Snelling (Employment, Training, Further Education, Science,Information Economy, Veterans, Road Safety).
Grace Portolesi( Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation, Multicultural Affairs, Youth and Volunteers).

Cant confirm if all other portfolio allocations remain unchanged, as yet.

John Rau is talented, why he was on the back bench for so long is a mystery, he should make a stellar AG in comparison to his predecessor

No doubt.

three things are noticeable:

Firstly, the opportunity to reduce the size of Cabinet has been overlooked. It was originally expanded in size to allow the Govt to appoint Independents (eg McEwen, Maywald) when it was in minority govt. This upset the Labor factions. Now the independents are out, the size of Cabinet has been maintained. The Libs had promised to reduce it back to 12, if elected.

Secondly, only 3 new Ministers. There are at least 3 others who should have been told thanks and see you later. They have survived.

Thirdly, the A-G gig is clearly one that 'belongs' to the Right faction. Hence Rau gets the gig ahead of Conlon or Weatherill. Perhaps that's because the SDA runs the right faction and they want their own faction in that spot to prevent any further deregulation of shopping hours?

All will be revealed in full tomorrow by 3.30pm but I think the list above reflects the substantive changes, and the rest will more or less be similar to portfolio allocations prior to the election.

2 votes!

So much for those who say their vote doesn't count - how many informal votes were cast in Bright, Brucetiki?

I think they should combine Mental Health, Arts and Urban Development - then the Minister could move his/her office to Glenside Hospital and be in the action for all 3

What WOULD have been interesting is if Chloe had gone with the deceitful Family First pamphlets. All you would have needed was one person to complain that they had followed the directions on it and would not have given Chloe Fox the preference had he/she taken notice. Then.......what if it was the seat that decided the government

Then there would have been a serious problem

Agreed, and if she lost by one vote, it would have her wondering for a couple of moments about her decision.

I think the accolades she will get from now on, for her stance, will show her that it was the right decision. If I ever meet her, I would certainly congratulate her for refusing deceit (of which both sides are guilty at some time) and still winning

Are you sure that's the final count?

I would have thought not all the postals have been counted yet.

As I stated earlier, it's not the final count as there will be further updates.

Chloe Fox is 144 votes up in Bright, Don Pegler 280 votes up in Mt Gambier, there is only a few hundred votes left to be counted in each of these electorates, so the leading candidates would be pretty confident. Kris Hanna has dropped behind the Liberal candidate Peta McCrance in Mitchell, but will be favoured by preferences, and should hold his seat, as he has since 1997.
