there will be a backlash for sure with the issues i mentioned along with others

Some very marginal seats at the moment no doubt. Will be hard for the Libs to hang on to them in Qld, but still the greatest weapon the Libs have is the face of Bill Shorten.

In SA the seat of Hindmarsh will be very close, will be a battle ground no doubt but still going to be one to hold.

So, Sean Edwards does the unspeakable and forces Tony Abbott to comply with his subs promise to stay PM, so the SA Libs, led by Pyne, dump him down the list as payback. If it wasn't for people like Edwards, Abbott, with Pyne's cognizance, would have given the subs to the japs.
I cant wait to run into that little twerp  (I will keep you informed)

So glad to see funding announced for a southern suburbs train extension.

Meanwhile, out north, we're still stuck with empty promises for a train line half electrified, going as far as Salisbury.
Apparently no new votes out here.

In terms of the election, the Government must be very scared about losing seats here in SA, plenty of attention here. Xenephon shaking it up.

Not surprising that north are relatively safe labor seats

Yet despite many years of a state Labor government, the infra-structure that Dogwatcher referred to, has still not happened. If they were marginal seats, you get the feeling that stuff like happens a lot quicker.....
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

There are some marginal seats around that could make or break the election. SA is a waste duke for the LNP at the moment. Thats why Flinders line is now being funded.

Problem is the state government withdrew their plans for the Gawler electrification but blame the commonwealth for taking the saving because its not going ahead. The state government actually dont want these commonwealth grants because it affects their GST distribution in the future

love how these random people off the street are camping out at election speeches , and then bailing up the candidates as they walk round shaking everyones hand and big noting themselves .

The pollys look so awkward when this happens.
Some family bailed up the NSW premier saying along the lines "they almost had to put their son in a coffin last year" .

Dutton said that "illiterate and innumerate" refugees would take Australian jobs or "languish" on the dole if Australia was to significantly increase its humanitarian intake.

Whilst I appreciate more refugees may well mean that more unskilled people need to be accommodated from other backgrounds, Dutton's words don't make for a convincing argument because:

a) what employer in Australia would hire someone who cannot read or count?

b) how do you fill in the dole form if you cannot read or count?

Seems the ALP is onto the Gawler line. Good news.

From Shorten's budget reply:

Jobs: Infrastructure

And instead of cutting infrastructure by a further $1 billion as this government has done in this Budget…

Labor will turbo-charge Infrastructure Australia with a new $10 billion funding facility.

A ‘concrete bank’ to get investment from the private sector, particularly big super funds, flowing into projects.

Instead of taking selfies on the train, we’ll get new projects underway.

Nation-building, not ego-boosting.

If we don’t get projects up and going, by 2031, congestion on our roads will cost Australia $53 billion.

This is why a Labor Government will invest directly in public transport including:

Brisbane’s Cross River Rail
The Melbourne Metro
The Western Sydney Rail line
Perth Metronet
Adelaide’s Gawler line electrification and AdeLINK light rail

This will create a stable pipeline of 26,000 jobs – and boost productivity.

The Feds are not the problem with the Gawler Line
It was the State Govt that mothballed it - they don't get to keep the money
Just to put a sword to Labor's lies; here is the 2012 state budget showing the savings in 2011-12 when they mothballed it and future savings

It was a joint funded project was it not? And SA government mothballed it only when the Feds withdrew funding?

Incorrect. The State Govt cancelled it to save their money

so the Feds take back their proportion of unused funds in their 2013 budget

As soon as the Feds showed the saving in their budget, the State Govt suddenly decided they wanted to do it again BUT their budget savings showed they had taken the savings right up to the 2015-16 budget year. It's all there in the attachment

They never intended to do the upgrade until next year so it would be ready for the next State election
