Stephen Smith is the only person in the federal ALP I feel anything positive about at all.

Whilst Julia continues to publicy ignore the obvious issues, (yet listen to her colleagues speak for and against Kevin and herself), the Labor party would probably come out of this best if they did find a compromise candidate.

If they are all so worried about the next term of govt, then Stephen Smith would have the most acceptance amongst the Australian populus, surely?

Roxon, Wong and Shorten and even possibly Plibersek (in no particular order) could all be potentially future PMs, but the timing is wrong for each of them.

Julia should be being decisive and fixing the Rudd issue for once and for all. I bet she keeps reminding Caucus though that the Govt's agreement with the Independents (enabling minority govt) is with her personally, not with the Labor party. If Julia goes, the independents may walk and we could have a snap election.

Yes, she's a bully and totally inflexible!
But she doesn't disguise it as well as Kevin Rudd did. ;)

Yes.
Just most of them hide it fairly well when they are trying to get the nomination or sell themselves to the public.
Tanya Pilbersek hides it better but I'd sooner trust Roxon than her - watch the eyes and lips when anyone disagrees with her on TV.

Honestly though, if a leadership spill happened last week, Rudd would be crushed, and probably leave politics straight away.

Doing this on his terms, and hanging crap on Simon Crean as well (who is not liked), tying him right in with Gillard, if he goes on Monday and says he wants the job, I think he'd be getting pretty close.

Second only to Obama as an orator, and it was fitting he was in DC.

Rudd's F***ed, he may as well get used to being a backbencher, here's why:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/tony-windsor-says-rudd-as-pm-means-an-early-poll/story-e6frea6u-1226278645392

No ALP pollie in a dodgy seat (there are seven on a margin of less than 1.5%) is going to commit political suicide by votong for a bloke who could see this minority government lose it's posiiton on the right hand side of the speaker.

Kev, you've got as much chance of me winning as I have of pushing a pound of butter up a parrots ar5e with a hot needle.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
