It is a rort and was introduced during Howard's reign.

I remember learning about the "Particpation Rate" in Year 12 Economics in late 80's.

That was when Hawke was PM.

Was the current definition of unemployment drawn up when Howard was Treasurer 30 odd years ago?

The definition of unemployment always makes me laugh when the labour force changes depending on if you are particpating or not. I thought back in year 12 Economics, much like yourself GWW but not that long ago, that it was full of crap.

Also the fact that the ABS base this on a very small % of the population.

How about we use the figures from Centrelink. How many are on Welfare...bang. How many are on the "dol" instead of say pensions. Probably not a simple as that but you get the idea. I reckon it would give a much more accurate assessment of jobs in each state.

Also we wouldnt have to deal with the not looking bullshit.

And thats why Australia will be in a recession within 6 months. Not because of the carbon tax.

SOME OF THEM DO!
I've posted examples of the recent furore in medical research about the manipulation of data in the pursuit of grants.
Several papers published in what are, theoretically, major, adequately peer reviewed, medical journals have since been retracted by the journals.

You can't tell me it only happens in medical research.

Spot on Psyber. There are numerous examples of "playing the game" in science, and Climatology cannot be immune. Peoples' livelihoods are involved....

This is coming from an Earth scientist..

Gozu..If I never existed you can take 1,200+ jobs of the employment list in SA right now.

With your politics you can take a lot more than that off the list...

Some of us like to create/discover wealth for others...it's quite rewarding...you should try it...Note: jobs in HR don't count...
