Bearing in mind that Qld have no Legislative Council, its being forecast that Katters Australia Party will likely win all of three seats, and are possibly a chance at a fourth at the upcoming State Election.

Julia Gillard powerbroker Senator Mark Arbib resigns

ASSISTANT Treasurer and Sports Minister Mark Arbib has dropped a political bombshell by announcing his resignation from politics.

Senator Arbib, the Assistant Treasurer and Sports Minister, has called on the Labor Party to reunite after the tumultuous events of the past week.

He said he believed the chance of Julia Gillard leading Labor to victory at the next election would be enhanced by his departure.

"I've always done my best to uphold the best interests of the Australian Labor Party," he said.

His resignation would help Ms Gillard rebuild the party, he said.

Mr Arbib has been described as one of the "faceless men" who helped install Ms Gillard as Prime Minister in the 2010 coup against Kevin Rudd.

"It's a gesture of goodwill for the party," he said.

This is what I believe.
Rudd may have calmly told Gillard that if she didn't bone the serial traitor Arbib he (Rudd) would wreak havoc on her (Gillard) over the ensuing months with leaks about the sordid 2010 leadership furore. Why else would bright spark Arbib quit, citing the usual garden variety "to spend more time with my family" BS?

That's what I thought too Arbib might've been the Rudd camp's pound of flesh.

and so quickly to show who was the victim.

Arbib is/was a blight upon everything he touched within the Labor Party.
His humiliation is a prize for everyone, regardless of their political persuasion, to show that karma still lives.
I hope some of the others, on both sides, take note

I heard on 5AA the other night that when the Liberals lost the election in 2007, Australia had a debt of $0...and now with Labor, Australia has a debt somewhere up near the $200 billion mark...if thats true, surely there has to be some sort of intervention.

I thought Wayne Swans job was to look after this...how can he still have his job?

The blatant stupidity of Labor is breathtaking.

After just about ripping themselves apart in the leadership bloodshed of the past week or 2, you'd think they would all bunker down and attempt to pull together to avoid oblivion ... but no, let's leak more confidential details and make the PM look stupid.

This mob deserves everything that they will get at the next election ... annihilation.
