Jobs for the old boys federally.

Meantime in SA the CEO of Tourism SA, whom the Minister says "was doing a good job" is laid off with pay "to save money".
Yet the former ALP-SA staffer, as the relatively new Chair of the organisation stays on at a much higher salary.

Hearing the Minister stumble round in circles under questioning on radio 891 this morning was highly amusing...

It was a question without the question mark ;)

The 'leaks' I read was that there would be an internal revolt if Carr was appointed as members wanted someone appointed from within.

Nevertheless, it's an excellent appointment, but one that should have been handled so much better, but no surprise that Labor bumbled around with this one.

A mate sent me this one today:
A woman in a hot air balloon realised she was lost. She lowered her
altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him,
"Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an
hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air
balloon, approximately 30 feet above ground elevation of 2,346 feet
above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude
and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Liberal voter."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is
technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your
information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Gillard supporter."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are -- or where you
are  going. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of
hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you
expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position
you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

Yawn. Keep in mind the Liberal Party was formed for one sole purpose, to try and keep Labor out of government.

They've never stood for anything other than opposing Labor and basing their entire existence on fear.

Gillard is a dead woman walking.

Craig Thomson will quit the Labor party and sit as an independent.

Details are sketchy, but it looks like Labor are trying to be too cute by half again, and it will explode in their face.

Labor will try to claim Thomson is not one of their own but will still rely on his vote.

Thomson will still (privately) enjoy the support of Labor because if they turn on him he'll bring the government down.

What a clusterfaark ... I regretfully think an election must now be called, or the Governor-General should intervene and force one.

UNDER siege Labor MP Craig Thomson will quit the party today to run as an independent, Sky News reports.

Mr Thomson will hold a news conference at 11.30am SA time outside his electorate office.

The besieged former union official has been accused of misusing union credit cards to visit prostitutes and to withdraw $100,000 over a five-year period.

It is believed Mr Thomson will move to sit on parliament's crossbench.

Mr Thomson has been the focus of claims of misuse of Health Services Union (HSU) funds during his time as its national secretary.

He is among several former and current HSU officials who are the subject of two Fair Work Australia investigations, police probes in NSW and Victoria, and an internal inquiry by former corruption buster Ian Temby QC.

Mr Thomson denies any wrongdoing during his time with the union from 2002 to 2007.

I'm not sure they'd go back to Rudd, they'd probably rather lose next election than serve under him again (quite a few Ministers have indicated they'd leave Parliament/go to backbench if he's PM again).

They may just have to try another option although unfortunately for them there's not that many worthy candidates who could take on role as PM.
