Don't get that in the NT News. Today we got the half eaten remains of a dolphin on the front page.

"Is anyone at News monitoring Andrew Bolt's blog?":

The Australian publishes a story by Glenn Milne, then removes it from their website, replacing it with this apology.

Meanwhile, over at the Southbank Jester’s blog the assertions that The Australian has declared “untrue” are republished verbatim, covered by the tiniest of fig leaves. {No, I’m not going to link to the post. Rules on linking and defamation are murky, so I’ll play it safe}

I’m sure that Bolt’s post will be edited soon enough to remove the allegedly defamatory material, but the bigger question remains, if Bolt didn’t think that Milne’s information was correct, why republish what he’d written in the first place?

No politics until further notice. Principles to weigh up. Faith to keep. Sorry.

UPDATE

Afrer discussions, I now feel free to speak my mind. So I shall. In tomorrow’s column. I apologise for the mysteriousness, but I did not want to act in anger or before matters had been resolved. I had to be fair to my employer and to my readers, and I apologise if you think I’ve had the balance wrong over the past 24 hours.

Thank you to everyone who has rung, emailed or commented on this post, here and on radio.

In shootout with Hartigan, Bolt loses. End of newspaper career. Can't do Sky as Harto chairs that too. Could do blog but selling ads a pain.

in case you missed it, this thread is about Andrew Bolt and I posted an update from his blog.

Bugger me but seems to be consistent with the nature of this topic, even more so that I actually started it.

So what was your point again?

Well he's back now ...

Damn we nearly had him ... you have to love his tenacity though, now he's portraying himself as a free speech martyr.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/opinion/pri ... 6125924173

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard's improper pressure to kill a story of public interest has raised questions about her judgement.
The Prime Minister overstepped the line when she called the chairman and CEO of News Limited, John Hartigan.

Calls that look like an attempt at censorship have many sinister overtones, with threats of inquiries and forced sales left hanging in the air.

Click here to have your say at Andrew's blog

And I ask her: What are you so afraid of? What else would you stoop to in order to cling to power? I was considering resigning as a News Limited columnist.

I thought this company that I love, that I have long admired for its defence of free speech, had caved in to pressure from a Prime Minister to close down reporting of a matter of public interest.

Slinging mud while screaming “Free speech”:

Andrew Bolt’s article today is potentially the largest collection of weasel words ever assembled in one place. There’s innuendo, guilt by association and victimhood, all neatly packaged up with a new attack on a PM who Andrew is ideologically opposed to.

Bolt’s attempt to link News Limited’s decision to pull a story that they admit contained inaccuracies and the media enquiry proposed by the Greens is pathetic.

she should just stay out of it and let them do there own job, and try doing hers a bit better instead of worrying about articles that might upset her. Its not like it wasnt true that she was involved with a union conman.
