If we went to an early election (or even at full term in August 2013) would it be possible for Gillard to lose her seat like John Howard did? I don't know her margin but she is pretty much on the nose in the general sense of the word

She's damaged good regardless ... if she does make it to the next election then she will have no option but to leave politics a la Anna Bligh

Don't think its unreasonable that the Trade Unions are openly very angry at the news that 1700 foreign workers are to be brought in for work on the construction of the mine, it does not wash with me either that they cannot find skilled people here in Australia to do the required work. The Union movement is in a dark place at the moment after the Thomson affair and need some runs on the board pretty quickly, no doubt they have little choice in front of their members but to call for Julia Gillards head over it?

As an aside, maybe the leadership of the various Trade Unions might like to have a look at the film "Made in Dagenham" http://www.abc.net.au/atthemovies/txt/s3035731.htm

Several interesting scenes of Union Officials attempting to collude with the company and to fail in their duty to their members, in this case female. Very good film and has a strong message for the Union movement of today IMO.

Sky it will not happen. She is in the safest Labor seat in Australia. The level of Incompetence and lack of effort they have down out here and still get voted for by people is a joke. Wyndham is the fastest growing area in Australia and it is a joke how no money gets spent out here to help the people out here.

Bully our Victorian Member didn't get much of a Swing last election against him. Now what is doing complaining about lack of funds spent on our roads and services here in Wyndham. When the labor party was in government he did nothing.

75% of the two party preferred last time. If she loses her seat then Labor might not have anyone in parliament!

Interestingly polling suggests that even including a trend downwards nationally Kevin Rudd looks a very good chance to hold his seat - and be one of a very few ALP people left to represent QLD. Much to the chagrin no doubt of the current leadership, Rudd does seem to have strong support with the punters?

As I've said before, Rudd just needs to pull his head in like PJK did (that only lasted until he got the prize) and bide his time.
Whether he has the ability to curb his over inflated ego is another thing

Julia, your subjects are hurting like never before.

Postby Dog_ger » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:27 pm

Us low income earners that work in nursing homes are struggling like hell.

We never got a $50,000 pay rise, like you.

My electricity bill now is greater than my weekly pay.

And i have solar panels on my roof.

I will never vote labour or for a woman again.

I have cut down my electricity consumption but my bill still sky rockets.

Where is this going to stop.

If someone were to shoot you, they would not get jail.

They may get a community award. :D
