Think you will find Australia is rated one of the best in the world when it comes to animal farming practices.

Doesn't mean there isn't an element of cruelty that exists with something like battery hen farming.

Agree, and I wish people would stop buying eggs from those producers. They are not real eggs anyway.

I, like most people, am disgusted and appalled by animal cruelty wherever it occurs.

That is why I am against live exports. Not only because of the cruelty suffered when the poor animals get there but also because of the journey where many die of starvation or illness. I do not trust the assurances that the animals will be treated humanely.

The cruelty involved with live exports is known within the industry - by the producers, the transporters, the shippers and the industry association. I find it a bit rich when these people jump up and down and whinge when their industry is suspended because of cruelty concerns.

I do eat meat, but I'd like to be sure the animals I eat have been treated decently, and killed humanely.

Meanwhile the animals keep on suffering - here are the latest revelations from abattoirs where Australian animals are sent.

PRESSURE to halt more Australian live animal exports is growing. This follows new video footage from Turkish abattoirs of horrifying slaughters.

Animals Australia released the footage to try to force the Federal Government to improve live-export trade standards, after separate attempts by two MPs to kill the industry failed.

The graphic vision shows cattle and sheep being strung up by one leg - against international slaughter standards - at abattoirs where Australian animals are sent. They appear to be killed inhumanely and without stunning.

Some animals shown in the Turkish abattoirs are not Australian, but animal activists say the procedures are routine and Australian animals were in feedlots at the facilities.

Just talked to someone who is employed in the live export industry, and the word is there is about 100 abattoirs in Indonesia, and 4 are not following international standards. Shouldn't be too hard to get them in line.

As I said - people in the industry know about the cruelty involved, it has been going on for years.

What does your "someone" think of the conditions aboard the ships TSG?

I can't - that's why I want to know the correct policies are in place, and I hope they are enforced by inspectors.
Note: "I'd like" means "I would like".
I would like to be more sure than I am now...

The Convoy of sore losers, climate change deniers and cow hurters is expected to cause traffic chaos in NSW this weekend.

WIDESPREAD traffic disruption is expected in NSW this weekend as a protest convoy of trucks, cars and caravans travels through the state on its way to Canberra.
