this can be very damaging to the labor party.

the fact is - the people/us/you and me want Rudd more then Gillard.
LABOR WANTS GILLARD!!!!

i was not aware that a federal/state political party dicided on who to vote for or run the country??? Please remind me when a political party choses by votes on whom runs the country???/yes its a vote in the current party to for them to find a correct leader, but just trying to provee a point. Election time !!

its up to the voters of this country to chose, not labor/liberals/greens etc.

go to an election, and we will see

but the fact is that most of us want rudd back as gillard couldnt run a corner store at the moment..........so the facts speak for themselves

I can understand what you are saying - the voters in theory have voted for their PM and it was their choice so how can the party go with someone else? The reality is we we voted for their political party, not them.

Technically, we voted for our local members to represent our electorate in parliament house. Not the party, not the PM. The party can choose who their leader is at any time. They are then accountable to us voters at the next election.
In between signatures .....

where in my post did i say we should vote on a leader of a current party????? think your reading between the lines.

I said - take it to an election and see what happens. I also said its the peoples choice to vote on which PARTY runs the country, not a current leader. I never said that we vote on a current parties leader..............
election = vote wheter labor keep their current position as they cant figure it out, or get another party in to do the job for them

I doubt that would happen here in an official way, but as people realise, it occurs in a de facto kind of way.
There probably are some people that don't even know the local candidate's name until actually voting.
Others would have seen their names on the posters, but would know next to nothing about them.

November 2013 is the latest. I doubt Labor would call it much earlier than that, unless the Liberals spectacularly crash in the opinion polls.

Duh. There's no reason for Labor to call an early election.

When was the last time an election was called 18 months early?

Absolutely correct Q. Who knows what will happen in 18 months. Abbott, could well be replaced as the Liberal leader. Neither party have any stand out leaders with Gillard who is likely to win on Monday, being largely ineffective and then there is Abbott, who probably would have been out of his ar$e at the moment, if not for Labor being a stuff up. Both parties are in very ordinary shape, with atrocious leaders on both sides, so I would not be too confident betting on Abbott in 18 months time. (if he is still there). At the moment Liberal would win, but 18 months is a long time in politics and people soon forget. Abbott is only there because the Liberals have not much else in their stocks either and only two months ago was talked of being "thrown out" himself. No amount of grandstanding by Abbott, will get Labor to an early election however and why would they.

1984 when it was politcally expedient for Hawke to take advantage of the Peacock/Howard leaership turmoil. Double Dissolution.

considering we voted rudd in in 07, and then the so called PM thats in at the moment took over in 10. Then was ...out voted in the last election then its odvious that we dont want gillard.

And before you say if we didnt want gillard back in in the last election then why is she the PM, the Kevin 07 party nearly wiped the liberals off the face of the earth, and it was almost virtually impossible for the libs to win the last election as they needed a massive swing to do that, and seeing the results that it was a hung parliment at the last election. for the libs to come back from where they were in 07, that to me proves we dont want gillard. Im sure if rudd was still there in the last election it would have been a diff story for labor.

yes labor won, but they were so far in front in the 07 election and to nearly lose the last, that was a big eye opener.
