I was sure that Thiele would have a live scores thread running in here - after all, we only get federal elections every 3 years and state elections every four years!

I think it's looking like a 1 or 2 seat Liberal win or a hung parliament.
Labor with about 51% of the vote?

Thought I saw a 50.3 % TPP to the coalition on the ABC R&B?

TBH R&B this is a result beyond my expectations - still Labor will be able to form a govt with the support of Wilkie and the Greens.

From teh right side of politics a big thank you to Mark Arbib

Could end up being 73 Labor with Green and Wilkie, and 72 LNP with 3 conservative independents.

That's as well hung as you can get.

Also, the Greens will definitely hold the balance of power in the Senate.

Interesting times ahead!

The AEC site has Labor at 50.9% with 70% counted, aB.

It's a long way in front of the ABC computer.

I'd be nearly prepared to call this as a minority ALP government. Massive result in Denison, if that keeps rolling to early predictions, may hold a major role in proceedings. Would suspect Boothby sneaks home to Liberal on around 50.5% with preferences. Great result for Greens, as a party, in Melbourne also. They have managed to achieve one thing the Australian Democrats never managed - a Lower House seat.

Overall, the night is a huge result for the Greens. This may, genuinely, herald the beginning of a very legitimate third party option in the Lower House. Some of their vote tallies across SA, where their primary vote keeps improving, are very good. To pick up close to 17.3% in Mayo - a 6% swing so far - makes this a real seat to watch within two more elections.

One thing for sure with seats like Lindsay, Corongomite, Hasluck and Greenway being too close to call this election minority or not will be known until Wednesday or Thursday.

Sh!te load of postals and pre-polls to count yet.

It may well be that the LNP win all the doubtful seats by a whisker and govern with less than 50% of the vote.

Labor can blame its own supporters who voted informal perhaps, as well
as a toxic NSW and Qld State Government.

Interesting times ahead.
