Abbott's Gone!

Labor, Liberal, Greens, Democrats? Here's the place to discuss.

My apologies, BP, that should have been directed at Sky Pilot, although I (mistakenly?) thought you seemed to be generally agreeing with him about Bob Brown. I acknowledge you certainly haven't been name-calling, that was obviously directed at SP.

To answer your point, naturally anyone can stand down from the Senate to stand for the House of Reps, but Brown is in the Senate for another two years or so and has no need to change places after that.

As for the Company line, it was directed at SP for toeing the Murdoch line, not party lines.

No worries.

I do not believe Bob Brown will do any of the actions that I stated he could, but only because the chance will not arise for it to be a worthwhile exercise, as opposed to him not wanting to.

Interesting point, southee.

As a Mod, I think you have a point, although links to YouTube and websites have been an integral part of this forum since it started. However, none of us want it to be taken over by political advertising, so I tend to agree with you.

Posters in the past have linked to Liberal and Labor Part websites, so it's not new.

I'd suggest that if there's a link to an obvious advertisement, such as in this case, it's identified so that posters can choose for themselves if they want to see it.

I'll edit fish's post accordingly, but I'm open to debate on this if posters have otherr ideas or thoughts.

Yep fair point southee and redandblack. It was sent to me via the Your Rights at Work email list but, yes, it is an ALP advert.

It is on topic though!

I don't see an issue with it as long as it is made known it is an advertisement. Fish has done that

Ummm, fair point, Q.

Every non-News Ltd paper today leads with the Murdoch English scandal.

Not The Australian, it leads with a totally misleading non-story about how 'bad' the BER was

Fortunately, their reputation, already bad, is now totally trashed, except to those who are happy to have Rupert Murdoch tell them what to think.

PS: Very fair of you, fish, good to see you being even-handed ;)

Oh and in regard to Tony's "global cooling" he appears to have made the same error that ex-Senator Fielding made.

Apologies in advance for being pedantic, but I don't accept the sincerity of your attempt to balance the debate fish ... that video will surely find it's way into a Labor Ad campaign. ;)

what a wa**ker he is

If you understood anything about Austraian politics and the Westminster system. You would realise a Senator could NEVER become PM! Let alone a leader of a minority party and also as he will not be standing at next election and will be retiring.

But that doesnt get reported does it?

my point is like the post after i first posted this, nothing stopping him from changing parties. hes just an idiot and my point is what is stopping him from moving

bully, the idea that Bob Brown would change parties and that the Labor or Liberal parties would accept him and say "Oh, OK, Bob, you can take over as Prime Minister" is just laughable.

No chance in hell Bob Brown would join the Laberals or Libor.
