Nothing wrong with Murdoch when he helped Whitlam get in?

Nothing wrong with it, just a shame that a great proportion of australians cant see through the spin and take it as gospel. Problem when to few people have too much power.

He's a power tripper. Knows he can influence elections, wants to influence election and does. Whether that be in Rudd's favour in '07, or Abbott's in '13.

and they are.......
Circulation is going down - I might buy The Advertiser and Sunday Mail every second week and refuse to subscribe to the digital version.
But neither political party can complain because they use the media 24/7 to manipulate us at every opportunity.
The media is a beast that can turn on its master, and it has for Labor, but Labor attacked Murdoch as well.

tony abbott and Campbell newman out for a run this morning in Brisbane. Funny seeing all the news crews running along with them.

Abbott has described some parts of outback Australia as "Somalia without the guns"

I wonder what Tony would do about that. To be honest, neither party seems to show much interest in what happens outside of Sydney.

my point continually that there is more to life than western Sydney. Yes, 2 million people do live in western Sydney, but 21 million other Australians don't.

Good to see on the news Bob Hawke out campaigning for Garrett's replacement in Kingsford-Smith.

Who will watch the debate tomorrow night. I really dont think there is much that either leader will discuss tomorrow night that we dont already know. If i were Tony Abbott, i would start really publicising some of his new policies at events such as this, try to provoke a positive vibe ater being Mr No for the past 6 years. I dont think it will happen, but would be good to see none the less.

The debates and constant media posturing bore me to tears.
They are about transient appearances to con the swinging voter, not the fundamentals of each party's long term core beliefs.

I'd need a lot of convincing by observing behaviour over time, not a few promises on the media, to change my levels of trust in any party.
I agree with bits of all their core platforms and the ABC's Voting Compass picked my trust levels fairly well for each.

I've added my location chart showing my rather Centrist position on this scale, which puts more emphasis on economic orientation than the other scales. The American politicalslant.org scale lined me up with the Aussie Greens, and the Australian Liberal Democrats one which picked me as a Social Democrat - both left of the ALP on their scales. (I probably am left of the ALP except on the issue of acceptable level of debt.)
