My take so far..........

Rudd is a better option than Gillard

Rudd does not have what it takes to lead this country

Abbott is dangerous and a far worse option than Rudd

Conclusion........

We're F***ed for the next few years no matter what the result is!!

Why do you suggest Abbott is dangerous? He and his team will make a great government. I admit Turnbull has a better media image than Abbott but I really believe people will be pleasantly surprised at Abbott and the way he will run the show. I've met him and he is a genuine good bloke.

Rudd is a fake - just better than Gillard at hiding it and acting the nice guy - his own team said that about him when they dumped him for her.

Abbott, is a less skilled faker but a little more trustworthy/predictable, and is being cagey in not giving the ALP time to work up a transiently convincing fear attack on his policies. Such a campaign of fear would only have to stand up to scrutiny for a for weeks to tip a close election.
However, it is all relative as they are politicians and therefore at the lower end of any trustworthiness scale.

The truth is, whoever wins we are going to have to make economies before our present moderate debt levels start to blow up into serious ones on the "just a little bit more to win the next election" principal which adds up over decades. The main reason I support the Libs is that I think they have a better grip on this reality and have demonstrated that over the years...

Abbott will be Australia's version of George W Bush ... until he is rolled by Turnbull which may happen before the end of his first term

Yeah spot on Psyber. I seem to remember a survey from a few years ago on most untrustworthy occupations - politicians, used car salesmen, journalists, real estate salesmen, mechanics and the most trustworthy were nurses, doctors, dentists. Someone might be able to update this from a more recent survey

After a poor start to both campaigns, I am more convinced then ever that whoever wins this election will only be in government for one term. Almost be better to lose, form a strong opposition and set yourself up for the future.

I think Tony is a bit brighter than GWB, and more able to be persuaded towards balance by Turnbull and Hockey - so I don't think an ALP-style coup will be on the agenda.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if Turnbull is the leader again by the next election.
