He’s basically kryptonite for any serious person in the party because he’s a complete embarrassment.”

So much for unity within the ALP, it would appear that several MP's want her gone - Rudd was a notable absence from the meeting today.

JULIA Gillard has accused her own MPs of trying to destroy her Government from within as she addressed a shattered caucus ahead of the resumption of Parliament tomorrow.

A source inside the caucus told The Daily Telegraph that the PM said she was aware that MPs had been leaking to journalists with the intention of backgrounding against the Government. Backgrounding is where politicians provide sensitive information to journalists under the assumption they will not be named.

Oh Dear, what an absoute shambles. Roll on the election so we can get a government that might be capable of governing rather than feeding the headlines with a constant stream of sensational stories of self implosion. I am not a fan of Tony Abbott (although our local sitting Liberal member is quite good) but am feeling there is no other option.

Condemning people for attending a funeral is a bit of a low act, is it not? Just because they may have belonged to a particular group does not necessarily make them a bad person. These three individuals were involved in what many see as a just cause in attempting to get independence for their cultural group and for giving Kurdish people a chance in life. Turkey operates a system of apartheid in relation to the Kurdish people and most nations condemn the Turkish Government for their policies re this.
Would you condemn people for attending Nelson Mandela's funeral, or Bishop Desmond Tutu's? Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma??

It wasn't a funeral - it was a memorial to 3 members of an organisation that has been branded a listed terrorist organisation by our Australian Govt.
These two politicians attended as representatives of the SA Govt, and Rankine allegedly spoke on behalf of the SA Govt which also includes you and me
Whether: PKK is, or isn't, a terrorist organisation, justified or unjustified in their ambitions, doesn't matter.
These two individuals, who attended as elected govt. officials, have no right to ignore the foreign policy of our Country.
I have no problem if they went along as private citizens.

Aung San Suu Kyi is a key player of the NLD, that is regarded as a terrorist organisation by the Burmese Government.
Nelson Mandela was a member of the African National Congress that was also deemed a terrorist organisation.
