According to the Advertiser today the official swearing in ceremony for the new government was held yesterday, yet the following seats are still undecided.

Flynn Qld,
Solomon N.T,
Swan W.A,
Robertson NSW,
Bowman Qld,
Herbert Qld,
McEwan Vic,
Dickson Qld,
LaTrobe Vic.

My first query is why it remains undecided? postal vote counting closed and there has been ample time for those votes to be delivered and counted. Secondly, it would seem reasonable for the government to be sworn in when they are complete and it is formally decided. Eventual winners of the above seats have no chance of getting a cabinet position or another role which disadvantages their electorate. It would seem a fairer thing to wait until it is all set in concrete, then for the positions to be decided and the relevant people sworn into their new roles?

How long would it take the new PM to reduce fuel tax then? Even if he has not costed it in the campaign or put it to the people through policy.......The world would end surely?

Won't happen mate, he's more likely to re-introduce Keating's indexed rises to the the excise, which Johnny abolished to get out of electoral shit a few elections ago.

The Liberal lead in La Trobe has increased from 166 votes to about 700 over the last week as postal votes were counted. I don't have final figures yet.

The majority in seats won't be as big as first thought. Of the doubtful seats, labor only look like winning Flynn and Robertson, with Solomon and Bowman possible.

They won't get the number of seats their nearly 53% of the vote should have returned.

its irrelevant anyway, no MP who wins a seat by 200 or less votes is going to have time to be anything other than a full time marginal seat campaigner.
