I didn't read it either - at least not since year 12, almost 20 years ago.
To answer your question... Sledging you!
I think Government spending is pretty important at the moment, a budget deficit (not one of crippling size) will assist the recovery process rather than hinder it, IMO.

I think Rudd is trying to do what FDR did to get the USA out of the great depression in the 1930's.You know building the Hoover dam etc .
Not sure what Rudd could do to keep punk happy .

So what should Rudd do to keep Australia out of a recession.Just remember we were going to have this recession the way Howard and co went towards the end ?Dont believe me why did interest rates jump straight after the last election ?
I love people who whinge and whine but can never do a better job.Or worse the ones who whinge and whine but vote informal. And no I couldnt do a better job and yes i voted .perhaps a commie system no unemployed in a commie state.
And I think all polticans are crooks none of them could lie straight in bed .And the biggest wanker is Senator X IMHO.

Not sure you can blame Howard for the (non-existant) recession either. Global forces have caused a lot of our currnet financial troubles, the condition of the economy when the change of Government happened is a large factor in the fact we are not in a recession. It had some robustness that is now being relied upon to keep us out of the shite.

Not too many actual workers either, that's why the economy struggles, and the shops run out of stock!

You are right about China - I suspect the Chinese are just more diligent by nature.
Rudd making a better Australia? I really don't know.
I thought he was doing a fairly good job at first, but I am now worried about level of debt we may accrue.
And the talk of borrowing from the middle east - sounds sort of worryingly familiar for those of us who remember Gough...

Yep it'll be Whitlam again, only this time Jim Cairns is female with red hair

It's just the Australian political cycle running its course again.
Labor spending and getting the coutry into debt, Liberals get back in and put us in strong financial position, Labor get back in and start to spend up big again and get us in debt... etc etc

Somehow I don't think it has been or is as simple as that.

I guess that that remains to be seen

I sincerely hope you are right, no one sane would want to see the country go down the tube simply to get a change in government.

Is there something to the fact that most of the anti Rudd/Labor people are North fans ?
Just an observation that's all.

No just seems that way, I know "Redden Whites" would be greatly offended by this idea

plus a few others on here. Kev's wife is a Walkerville girl, I wonder if she is a North supporter? Jane Lomax-Smith is a North supporter, I am pretty certain John Bannon is a North supporter, I think your theory is looking a little shaky
