Whilst the term "Muppet" is funny, I heard a funnier one the other day. "Putz".

And the current round of handouts for families and pensioners is being labelled as "Putzy Money" by the same person and their entire businesss.

There's been something like 60-80 boat people this year, last year there was something like 160. In other words another media beat up by that right-wing rag. I haven't even bothered to look at it but was it written by the deranged Greg "George W. Bush was a great President" Sheridan?

Yes, god forbid we should show some compassion and treat less fortunate people with dignity! Wait! Who cares! They are all terrorists who throw their children overboard!

Muppet and putz could describe some of the above posters. Along with sheltered, selfish and ignorant.

Can you point out a lack of compassion, or display of ignorance, with any of the above posters?

Surely we can debate a nickname for our PM, it's Australian to have a nickname!

I'll show compassion when they use the proper channels to enter this great country of ours. Try to do it illegal and they can go back whence they came.

As for Rudd's nickname, I call him "Smarmy". His offsiders are the "Smarmy Army".

There was an impication that because he embarked on a humanitarian regime with asylum seekers he was a muppet. Apparently we shouldn't be concerned with how we treat people.

There's your lack of compassion.

The ignorance was believing there was a rush of boat people. Someone please show me evidence of an increase.

Happy smac?

Being less vigilant about catching people trying to float into Australia doesn't mean there are less of them.

Ballhog - has Rudd actually done anything of substance yet? Handed out some cash recently, until then he was nothing but bluster.

Love the nickname for our Kev very apt. I totally agree anyone who refuses to follow proper channels should be denied entry. Apparently these illegal immigrants are "asylum seekers", yet they have found asylum in Indonesia, a democratic country (or at least it is in comparison to Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc) why don't they sit there until their applications are processed? Perhaps Kevin could introduce a "compassion tax" all the lefty wankers who think we should allow anyone into this country could pay an extra 10-15% on their income tax to support them.

Sorry smac, does that mean you agree with me? The above posts were ignorant and lacked compassion?

No, it doesn't mean that at all.

It means that if Putzy thinks not searching as earnestly for illegal immigrants equates to there being less of them, then he is a muppet.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Are you a politician smac? You are trying very hard to weasel your way out of this one!

The allegation in the paper was that there are more boat people coming to Oz.

I said it was ignorant to believe this based on one article.

Now you are saying there is no evidence for a drop in numbers!!!!! Where did this come from? No-one said there was a drop! All he said was there was no evidence of an increase.

Are you a liberal spin doctor? You are either that, dishonest, very confused, or all the aforementioned!

I was speaking in reference to Gozu's post. But thanks for trying to comprehend.

And for the record, I am not a Liberal voter. I used to be, but that changed at the last election.

No that is not what you were responding to.

I pointed out how the posts were ignorant. You said they were not ignorant and that there was no evidence of fewer boat people.

So either you disagreed about the ignorance but couldn't find a reason why or you were trying to twist the topic around.

Yes it is quite trying to comprehend your posts.

To clarify the misunderstandings of some people:

"Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution".
People who arrive on our shores without prior authorisation from Australia, with no documents, or false documents are not illegal. They are asylum seekers-a legal status under International Law. 'Illegals' are people who overstay their visas. The vast majority of these in Australia are from western countries, including 5,000 British tourists."
