A blow for Freedom

Rann's anti-bikie laws ruled invalid by the Supreme Court of SA today. It seems the courts value freedom of Association! Surely the police have sufficient powers to deal with criminals rather than having the state go down this dangerous totalitarian path? Rann doesn't want an ICAAC? Why? He's against corruption and crime isn't he?

Like John Brumby's predecessor in Victoria, and presumably their friends in NSW now, Rann is no doubt against non-political corruption and crime... ;)
It may cost funding more police to use other aspects of Law, but I had reservations about the path they were taking with this.
So, I am pleased the Supreme Court is prepared to rule against the government where it seems reasonable to the Court to do so.

Ah those pesky courts.

First they can't even find enough people guilty, necessitating laws which enable Atkinson to do it for them. Next they stop the law allowing him to do it.

Time for a re-intergration of powers.

Thank god for the courts, an independent judiciary is the mainstay of democracy, that jumped up populist doesn't quite get it

High Court appeal coming up. Any tips? This case will expose the leanings of the new Court.
