Labor, Liberal, Greens, Democrats? Here's the place to discuss.

I’m still trying to find the word “editorial” or some other point of reference which makes it “clear” that Q was merely referring to editorial content.
It seemed to me to be a very general comment. Just happened that I was reading the Guardian last night and wondered what an article like that, with a headline worthy of The Sun, is doing in a, supposedly, quality newspaper
Your article is from the Health section of The Guardian. I'm struggling to understand why you have a problem with it.

Actually it’s from the lifestyle / love & sex section.

I have already explained what I think about it

There's actually nothing wrong with it (unless you have a problem with a bloke asking a men's health question) and it hardly compares to a factually incorrect and redacted front page article on The Age.

Opinion has nothing to do with it. Your conflation was simply not accurate.

There would be lots of "progressive" examples of the point I think you're trying to make. Just find a better one.

I didn't conflate anything
All I did was agree with Q's comment about the quality of MSM journalism in Australia
Both are opinions and whether you think they have, or it has, nothing to do with it, is totally irrelevant
He gave an example and so did I. They are merely examples of why we, each, agree on the same point.
He may not like my example and I may not like his, but, again, it is irrelevant.

MSM journos are on pair with the New Idea and Womens day mags.

Honestly read Michael Owen from the Australian. Perfectly balanced..

This is the thing, they're actually not.

Plenty of main stream media outlets still have quality output and editorial content.

What's changed is people's expectations for immediacy, so media outlets almost have two "arms" now... The fist to release, online, digital, clickbait, factually nefarious stuff ... Call it Newstainment, then the real journalism.

The problem comes when high profile people who struggle with subtleties (Trump for example) and conflate the two together and dog whistle a Marco level movement against *all* media.

That's dangerous. And it must be nipped in the bud.

A free and health media is a critical component of a healthy democracy, it must be protected

I like Michael Owen. He’s probably the only journo in town that the State Govt can’t bully
But, yes, he does have a bit of an agenda

Most others in MSN are just reporters

It's obvious why a redacted front page article would be an example of really poor journalism. Please explain how a men's health question is of similar ilk?

Moderate and delightful people, including Greens MPs Adam Bandt and NIck McKim, go rogue and savage retired Major General now Senator Jim Molan. Bandt accuses him, amongst other things, of being a "coward", after a noteworthy military career, which Bandt, as a Greens MP, is apparently qualified to pass judgement on. Bandt later offers an apology and an undertaking to donate to a veterans' Group.

Indeed he did.

For balance:

Jim Nolan was responsible for overseeing Australian activities in Fallujah during the Iraq war where - allegedly - coalition forces used hunger and deprivation of water as a weapon.

In addition, Senator Nolan shared reasonably blatant White Supremacist material through his Social Media channels, the "coward" accusation was directed at him for claiming ignorance instead of owning his own political views. Nothing to do with his "service".

Ordered destruction of Fallujah with 30,000 citizens in it.

Looking like the Libs will be voted in with a majority in Tassie. Labor has made up a bit of ground but not enough to win. Looks like The Greens have been wiped like a dirty nose, kudos to the Tasmanian population.
