Working at a booth

I will be working at a polling place on election day... I've been sent lots of information about it, everything that I didn't really need to know, but can't for the life of me work out how much I'll actually get paid. Anyone else working as an ordinary polling official who knows what the going rate is?

Two federal elections ago it was 245/265 from memory. So you'd be looking at about 300 for the day. But it's a LOOONG day. Started before 7 setting the booths up and started counting the votes at 6. I think I worked out I got about 13 bucks an hour by the end of it. But you meet a heap of very interesting, very weird and very smelly people.

If you know your 2IC, or booth manager, ask him or her, they should know what rates are.

Thanks for that. Yes, I've worked on them before, just couldn't remember for the life of me the pay rate. Yikes, it breaks down to about $13 an hour?? :? :(

I work at one in the Southern Suburbs - from memory I think the paperwork said $358 gross this time round.
(for my position of issuing officer or whatever it's called)

I love it ! :D

I don't care how long of day it is - we are always flat out so the day goes very fast.
I find it all very interesting right from the people who walk through the door - to the counting at the end of the day.
I work alongside my best friend - which makes it even more enjoyable.
She has been doing it for 20+ years.

O:)
