1 The worm was biased towards Rudd.

2 I'm biased towards Rudd.

3 Notwithstanding the worm and me, Rudd smashed Abbott.

I caught the end of it, and it was a comprehensive win to Rudd. Rudd answered the questions and laid out his plans while Abbott predominantly attacked Rudd.

Absolutely drubbed by Rudd. Im goin home to Scotland if Australia elects Abbott as PM!

Another thing to come out of it, is Laurie Oakes has finally shown his hand as a truly biased Liberal man. His final comment that 'Rudds ambush had worked' was ridiculous. Abbott called for this debate in parliament on wed/thurs. Rudd accepts and then proceeded to dismantle him. if you cant keep your biases under wraps anymore Laurie, give it away old son.

If you are going to have a debate on health policy it probably helps to actually have a policy.  Oh Mr Abbott you are a God send to political satirists.

The bits I saw while in Qld suggested neither offered much policy - but I may have missed the moment..

Tony Abbott didn't want to talk about health policy, and was foolish in trying to attack Rudd in that context.
Kevin Rudd seemed focussed on making it look like taking some of the GST off the states, and using it to make it look like the feds were putting up more funding for health, had anything to do with improving health services.

I'm for the federal government taking over health funding fully so the buck passing is no longer possible, but this won't achieve that.

Good to see Tim Dunlop of Blogocracy fame (was an excellent blog) writing about politics again.

"Substance trumps speedos"

"Today's debate between Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott on the subject of health care reform was an unequivocal disaster for Tony Abbott."

"What Tony Abbott lacked in today's debate was substance. Kevin Rudd reached in (figuratively speaking!) and removed the socks from the front of Mr Abbott's Speedos. Sure, the leader of the Opposition made a few telling points on matters of detail, showing up some holes in the PM's plan, but that alone isn't going to win him anything, except maybe a few cheers from sections of the media."
