All get promoted to prime Cabinet Positions after doing the job on Kevin Rudd. - the more things change, the more they actually stay the same!

True, but perversely Rudd is perhaps more powerful now than when he was PM.

If the party pisses him off enough he can threaten to take his bat and ball and withdraw support for the government ... if he was capable of those leaks during the campaign then he's demented enough to do this as well.

Sojourner, good to see you know your politics.

Either that, or you're totally wrong, as all of those you mentioned are elected members of parliament. Indeed, they are all ministers of the Crown.

I'm not sure how that fits with the people who deposed Kevin Rudd, as those people (I'm strongly led to believe) are faceless, so they can't be these democratically elected people :?

Im confused - i thought it was supposed to be some backroom faceless mafia that had Rudd deposed.
Now it appears that they were actually existing elected members of parliament voting on a new leader?

Does this mean Abbott and his cronies are also faceless men?
I guess Abbott winning his leadership by 1 vote and having Turnbull waiting in the background provides for much more stabilty in the LNP than having Gillard with Rudd as foreign minister.

It is not irreconcilable, unless you really want to maintain the pretence that no deals were done.
These three are the elected representatives of the faceless men in Parliament, and now in the Cabinet..

Who are we kidding here?
You can get anyone elected if your are careful about the seats you pre-select them for.
And you can get anyone pre-selected if they don't have to be nominated by members of the local branch membership, and then elected by a free vote of the local members.
[Or if the branch is stacked - and yes I concede that gets tried in all parties.]
