I thought Knoll had actually been doing a good job of his portfolio, but nothing excuses the shonky finance dealings.
Basically all these claims need to be overseen and vetted constantly by and independent observation system from now on..

Three South Australian ministers and the state's Legislative Council president have resigned over the State Government's expenses saga.

Transport Minister Stephan Knoll, Primary Industries Minister Tim Whetstone and Trade Minister David Ridgway will leave their posts in Premier Steven Marshall's Cabinet.

Upper House president Terry Stephens, who was the subject of the ABC's initial reporting over his claiming of the Country Members Accommodation Allowance, despite spending significant time at a house in Adelaide, will also step down from his position.

Premier Steven Marshall, Deputy Premier Vickie Chapman and Treasurer Rob Lucas will take over their portfolios until a new Cabinet is announced.

These are the problems you get when an untrained person is put in charge of an Investigation agency.

Unfortunately, we are probably never going to stop this sort of thing happening, BUT, we are never going to make public servants do better if they aren't accountable for stuffing up

https://indaily.com.au/news/2020/10/26/departments-no-name-no-shame-policy-over-abuse-of-girl-in-state-care/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=INDAILY%20October%2026%202020&utm_content=INDAILY%20October%2026%202020+CID_75c56c5e661d587bc10ef574be95019e&utm_source=EDM&utm_term=READ%20MORE

I'd be sacked if I didn't report serious misconduct

The most telling comment is:

(Department for Child Protection chief executive Cathy) Taylor said despite “a number” of her staffers being made aware of the case, she was only informed after a journalist asked the Department to respond to the court sentencing remarks, which were made public.

She said as a result, Minister Rachel Sanderson was also not informed until after it was reported in the media.

“I’m aware of various people in the Department who became aware and obviously some of them are more senior than others – what I’m not prepared to do is name and shame,” she said.

“It would be so easy for me to name someone and go ‘you beauty, it’s done and dusted and they’re responsible’.

“We’re not a department of blame – we are a department of accountability. “At the end of the day, I’m the most accountable person in the Department as the chief executive.”

The head of the Child Protection Department .................. saying she doesn’t want to “name and shame” and that no disciplinary action has been taken.

I don't agree with naming and shaming, but OK Ms Taylor, you are ultimately accountable so how about you resign. Then maybe the others will realise what accountability actually means because you certainly dont

to be honest, i dont remember.

was a couple of years ago i went to a talk by the then commissioner Bruce Lander. he mentioned at the time he was the most reported person in the state by a long shot. i think he did mention who was second, but ive obviously killed that brain cell with alcohol :)

Losing the v8's should be the death of this incompetent, nanny state government hopefully.
This bloke and his team could go down as the worst government in SA history.

SA is currently the envy of every other state, sure we can do some things better but I’m glad to be a SA resident in these times
