I suspect jobs lost in industry will be offset by the huge growth in the employment of brokers trading Carbon Futures.
It does look like we'll be doing more trading than emissions reduction.

There is no evidence that this will be the case and has been extensively covered in the other Carbon Tax thread.

Not sure why you've started another thread on the carbon tax if you can't be bothered providing evidence to support your argument. It's not a surprise though, as you clearly don't care about evidence and you probably don't even care about job losses, all you care about is seeing your team in power.

Its simple economics that it will cut jobs,

How good would it be if everyone supported Australian Owned and at least even Australian Made products? - Trouble is people don't, I suspect the majority of people are not even aware that 90+% of frozen vegetables sold in Australia contain grown in china product.

A number of Australian companies that supply Australian Supermarkets and other stores will have no option but to raise their prices of their goods because of the increased costs of making the products. Their competitors who import from countries like China and Taiwan where there is no carbon tax will not have to raise their prices and will likely get the lions share of the business as a result. Lower sales mean lower production which means Australian workers out the door.

No doubt there will be other businesses such as Solar Panel Makers, yet its also likely again that they will retail in Australia and manufacture in China. So where the replacement jobs are coming from and what training will be offered to up skill laid off workers is anyones guess, SFA is mine.

Problem could be quickly solved however if the ginger ninja simply passed a law to state that any product that comes from a nation that does not have an equivalent carbon tax gets it charged anyway to keep the playing field as it is now, so that people get the compensation and can continue on as they are currently, yet Tariff Protection has been progressively wound back by both Labor and the Liberals and industries like the Furniture making industry have been wiped out in Australia as a result, Considering either of them are not prepared to make tariffs the same as what it would cost Australian companies to export into the countries we currently import from I suggest that any companies that get into difficulty this time will simply be hung out to dry as the rest of them were.

That's not evidence, it's opinion. I could also find opinion from industry execs suggesting that unemployment will not rise significantly if a carbon tax is introduced.

I suppose one could suggest that other countries that have adopted carbon pricing recently offer some forms of evidence.

Supporting a Carbon Tax doesn't automatically make one 'Labor'. Some of us see it as a bi-partisan issue, instead of an opportunity for political point scoring.
