Conservatives Cruising to Victory in NZ poll

Postby Sojourner » Sat Nov 26, 2011 7:55 pm

I have to admit to not being totally across politics in NZ, yet it seems that normally they form coalition governments with several parties involved. This time around the Nationals are winning likely 50% of the vote. Although not as pronounced the result so far appears to be trending towards the result of the NSW election where there was a move to the Conservatives and yet at the same time a swing also to the Greens away from the NZ Labor Party. Final results wont be known for a few hours yet but its interesting all the same!

There was a special on the NZ elections on Radio National this morning where it was quoted that over 2/3 of New Zealanders are against privatisation, and yet they managedto vote (seemingly overwhelmingly) for a Government that has privatisation as its main agenda. "Not negiotable under any circumstances" was the actual quote from John Key.
What an odd little people they are. Then again they think Rugby Union is the greatest game in the world.

Typically they have the wool pulled over their eyes, like much of the population,so they ewesually just vote for the greens.

The Australian wrongly accuses the ABC of not covering the NZ election:

On Saturday night ABC News 24 covered the New Zealand election with a five hour broadcast sourced from TVNZ and interspersed with ABC content, including half a dozen crosses to me in Auckland.

However, the coverage seems to have been caught in a strange timewarp as two days later the Australian's media section attacked ABC News 24 for not having covered the New Zealand election.
