The State Government is due to take these marine parks and the no-take "sanctuary zones" to public consultation in August.
It's sure to affect many recreational and professional fishers statewide.
Was interested in posters' thoughts on how the no-take zones will affect them in their various regions.

I am going down to Carrickalinga this weekend and I will spend a quiet Saturday fishing off the beach to get, maybe, 5 fish.
I am religious about throwing back anything that is not size

Yep and the West Coast of the state which have much less traffic have parks galore as it is isolated and hardly anyone goes there.

SA has the best self regulated fisheries in the World. This is just a waste of time and money. People in offices dictating to those on the ground that no whats going on. Just like they reduced the SBT quota becuase they 'thought' they were close to extinction. Got that one wrong badlay and actually increased it last year. Blokes in the boats at the time of the reduction were saying they had never seen so many, but according to the science, they were endagered.

I love fishing and will still bag out over here no matter where they put them, but gee this is just a joke

I don't fish very often at all but I find it astounding how much responsibility the State Government is seemingly trying to strip from both PIRSA and SARDI in recent years.

These guys have been doing such a good job in agriculture, horticulture and aquaculture management and research for decades now.

I reckon the Marine Parks are another step in that general direction.

No, each marine park has no take zones within them.

For example:

Marine Park 14 - Green zones are sanctuary zones (no-take zones)

So, basically, I can fish in the blue, but not in the green.

The best people to regulate fishing in this state are the actual commercial fishers themselves, despite what many simpletons may think, its the fishers themselves that argue for bans on fishing in breeding seasons in different areas of the state, reason being they like making money and realize that when its fished out the industry is over. - SA Cray fishers often do better than those in Vic because of the way the local stock is managed by themselves.
