FAT TAX

Postby mighty_tiger_79 » Fri Aug 03, 2012 5:34 pm

Ive been a big supporter of a FAT TAX

Tax all junkfood outlets that sell food that is grossly fattening etc.

The money could then be re-directed to help subsidise cheap fruit n veg. Promote to school kids healthy eating. The cost may help people look for a healthier food alternative.

I love a good whopper like most of us do, and I would have no qualms in paying extra, so long as the money is spent wisely by the government - and I know that is wishful thinking.

Spot on, Gozu
Although, to be strictly honest and serious, I have to add that it's not just stupidity..
The conditioning technique inherent in their design would gradually train most users to keep increasing the behaviour if they were not highly suspicious to start with and therefore cautious..

Yep!!! Sure is !!!

They could put a tax on it ... Do agree MT but society and people are that thick, lazy and plain simple that thèy would still pay for the fast food :(

Has not worked for the alco tax ... People still drink , assault others and there are still alcoholics.

Won't work as there will still be obesity , health problems and parents too lazy to make their kids a healthy meal .

One thing I hate is that McDonalds Olympic ad with the kid under the blanket with his dad bringing him maccas to eat at midnight !!! Sends the wrong message I reckon :(
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

What the government need to do is actually show cheap and easy healthy eating can be. A kilo a chicken breast is usually $9 and you can usually find place that have it for $6 a kilo. Rice is about $0.30 for half a cup. And you always find veggies on special. You can easily cook a healthy meal for under $5

Thats cos they upped the tax on the wrong thing! I dont know any alcoholics that load up on pre-mix cans, yet you can buy a cask of wine (4-5 LITRES) for $10. If they were serious they'd start by banning >1L recepticles.
