QLD Election

Postby Bully » Sat Jan 10, 2015 1:39 pm

QLD goes to the polls on the 31st of January . Campbell newman is the current premier. First term after the biggest landslide in QLD history when he came into power which left labor with only 8 seats.

Talk that the LNP will return but have a big swing against them with even campbell losing his seat of ashgrove.

todays poll showed a slight surge towards campbell again but who believes polls these days.

Major talking points are the leasing of state assets . Bikie laws and the hospitality section.

Savage cuts to everything since the LNP has been in power has cause plenty of people to hate campbell after his term of Mayor of Brisbane before his state run.

Well thats the problem at the moment. People wont be able to seperate State and Federal politics and hence the Libs will hurt a bit because of it.

yeah its hard for state governments to propose things and lead their party with the federal governments doing stupid things which in tern makes people voting against state governments.

I can't fathom that Labor were completely obliterated at the last election holding a mere 9 seats out of 89, and the polls are indicating a 11% or more swing against the LNP, with Labor some chance to form government.

In addition, Campbell Newman is in a fight of his life to hold his seat.

Add the simply boring and droning Labor leader Annastacia Palaszczuk, who must surely be related to Hymie from Get Smart, then this would be unprecedented if the LNP are to be kicked out of office after 1 term with such a huge mandate from the previous election.

I don't follow Qld politics that closely, but I assume that Newman's policies are as popular as Kennett's were in Victoria a couple of decades ago.

because of the dominance of the labor party for so long in QLD people wanted a change. And the continual lies from Anna Bligh ( which most seem to forget and only think campbell and tony have been the first liars in politics ever ) was the reason of the massive swing.

LNP will be returned but will lose so many seats.

The only thing that intrigues me about the Qld election is how Annastacia Palaszczuk's name got to be pronounced "Palashay".
All the Polish and Ukrainian immigrants I went to school with did (and do still) pronounce the -czek ending as "chek", and the -czuk ending as "chook"...

Well considering Labor currently have 9 seats in an 89 seat parliament, and there's a prediction of a possible hung parliament, I hate to see how Labor would go if they didn't have a clueless leader! :-s
