Look's like the Labor is going to put the darlings of the Latte socialists, Rudd and Gillard into the top jobs, another term for John Winston Howard. Labor should look at the attributes of their last really successful leader, Bob Hawke, who was highly educated, with excellent labor credentials and an uncanny ability to connect with people of all classes. Labor's non-academic, blue collar and working class heartland will be turned off. The Federal ALP is the Collingwood of Australian politics, good at coming second

They are long gone.They are too busy being "Howard's Battlers" these days. They don't care what happens in the world as long their interest rate doesn't go up 0.0000003%

The Libs went through leader change after Leader change too from 1983 to 1996. Labour is no different.

I'm not sure who you would like to lead the ALP. The current leader is an academic with no blue collar background whatsoever. Other than Bill Shorten, try to think of a rising star from the union movement. Indeed, the influence of unions on ALP pre-selections and the like is precisely what turns the average voter off Labor.

Whilst Kevin Rudd may be a media slut, he can (unlike Bomber) at least articulate what he's on about. Julia Gillard represents one of the most working class electorates you could wish to see, and any woman who is a partner of a law firm by 30 must have some serious talent.

Thought Chairman Rudd might have waited until after the election loss before making his move.

ALP desperately needs to clear the decks, starting with the Bomber, his roosters (Swan, Smith and Conroy) and deputy Macklin.

In any event, it won't matter. The machine men, union hacks and careerists are killing Labor.

Just on Hawke, have a look at the talent he had at his disposal. Then compare it to what Labor has to offer today...

Firstly I admit I am a right wing (almost extremist) like thats a secret!

BUT I love listening to Bomber and even Keating. Are they not the "almost perfect" politicians. You can shoot so many holes in their statements but they just shield them off as irrelivant and keep talking.

Lil Jonny will win the next election and probably complete that term too. Costello will never be PM and I think the Libs are looking for someone to groom.

The next PM could be a "kid" from S.A. First name is Chris.

Kevin Rudd just elected as labour leader.

Definately an improvement on Beazley who was going a bit senile towards the end.
But having said that an inatimate rod would have been an improvement on Beazley.

Mick reckon you might find the vast majority of politicians on both sides of the house are ex-student politicians. Student politics does indeed have a lot to answer for.
