This public service announcement shall be couched in as polite terms as can be mustered.

############

Howard - I am looking forward to playing a part in chucking you out as soon as you are forced to hold an election.

############

Thank you for your kind attention.

John Howard is in some trouble but it wouldn't suprise me if he pulls a rabbit out of a hat.... a la Keating in 1993. I think that the government will steadily peg back Labor's lead as we get closer to the election, generally we don't see much more than a 5% two party preferred difference in a real election. The most intriguing thing that could happen would be for the government to retain power but JWH losing his seat to Maxine McKew, with Labor effectively delivering to prime ministership to Peter Costello, how ironic!!! imagine the lefty breast beating after that one

Yep, I completely agree that it will probably be very close either way...always is. Would LOVE McKew to topple the rabid one. Might almost be worth watching the election coverage that night.

I reckon youi are about 25, live probably Salisbury, Morphett Vale or hackam, never finished high school and if you have a job? would be blue collar at best.

You obviously dont study the present climate of Australian polotics all that closely, other than to read the funny's and the court lists to see if you are mentioned.

My suggestion to you, have your view sure, but dont think for one second it is the majority or that you actually speak for the people. Another suggestion would be to grow up.

And he speaks for the people of Oz? Obviously well read on the political situation over here.

Hey Sploosh did you leave because we will have a Lib Fed Gov't for the next two elections. You choose to condemn JH, but you dont put up a viable alternative. Perhaps bring back Kym or Crean or Keating.
Goughs too old so count him out. Argue your point by all means and I will debate it sensibly, but give me alternatives please. Otherwise you appear a political goose to most I would think.

Coorong, you're defending this pretty vehemently, are you sure you're not John Howard? And angered by Sploosh's personal attack?
I thought you'd have a bit more to do running this country than getting on this website. ;)

Wedgie might be able to start promoting this site and saying "as posted by our PM".

I live in Japan, which is a little further than Morphett Vale - although what that has to do with anything, I'm not sure. I also did 4 years at uni, plus post-graduate studies, and my job is not blue-collar, but I wouldn't look down my nose at people doing blue-collar work. Once again, not sure about the relevance of any of that.

I am confident that my opinion DOES, in fact, reflect the feelings of the majority in Australia. But we won't need to simply rely on anyone's opinion, will we? We will be able to see for ourselves later this year.

While I am very happy to attack Howard for many of his decisions that I strongly disagree with, I have never attacked you or anyone else on this site for their opinions, so I'm not sure why you reacted so strongly. Perhaps it's not me that needs to grow up?

I'd imagine your blood pressure must take a bit of a hike at the footy then, as well, when hearing various comments? Which word in particular offended you? Obnoxious, riddance, or scum?

That'd explain the original post then.

Howard - People are looking forward to chucking you out on your obnoxious behind as soon as you are forced to give us the chance. Good riddance, ya scum!

This is the thing that gets me. The most vocal haters of the conservatives & ones who get all the airtime are either ex pats who give jack shit back to the country, uni students who garble whatever's been shoveled down their throat by Professor Che, or the all time favourite actors, artists, poets & musicians. Why are the most useless members of society are the most vocal?

Case in point. The referendum on The Republic.
Home & hosed, no chance of the monarchy getting a look in. Polls, media, even in the pubs hardly anyone under the age of 60 was going to go against a republic. Unfortunately some advertising bright spark decided to con the Republican movement into grabbing every Sydney minor celebrity to look down their noses at Joe Slobanski & demand that we vote in the republic in their snide condescending manner. That was the turning point for me, & I guess a shitload of others, the republic movement was smashed. (& don't try that ''it was the way the question was asked'' crap, does'nt wash).

So even if I suddenly found a social conscience & decided to give Labour a go (which I did in the last state election) I'd be put off in a heartbeat by soapie stars, B grade celebrity ex pats who has'nt lived here for years, someone who can sing, or a bloke who by chance likes to paint or write a book cause of a $50,000 yearly grant hogging space on my telly preaching that I vote the way he's demanding because his views more important than the Fred Smeggs of the world.

Well reasoned arguments on this & the other thread are fine, & well worth a read, even if their 180 from my own views. Be buggered though if I'll be browbeaten by academics & artists looking down upon people who actually work for a crust & pay for the living of these parasites.

So you voted against a republic because of that even though you support it?

God save our Queen :?
