Dean Terlich at Creeks is a good get. Even at 36 he goes well!

Terlich has been a gun but don't think he'll have the impact that people think

Women’s footy starts this weekend. Open age looks to be in a world of pain. 6 sides last year…. Goolwa and stingrays aren’t fielding sides in 2026 leaving only 4 and last years runners up McLaren have forfeited on Sunday.

Creek over GPE by 30
McLaren over Compass by 15
Pongy over VH by 18

Hopefully a season of closer margins.

Interesting first round.
Either EBay a lot better than predicted or Roosters worse than expected. Great improvement from GPE. Won’t be wooden spoon this year.
Statement made by Myponga with a few still to come back in.
Willunga good result over a disappointing Yankalilla. Recruits for Yank shone through.
Mt Compass will beat some teams with McLaren doing enough.

Looking forward to next week

I think before a ball was thrown up most would have been thought Pongy, McLaren and Willunga would be the sides to beat, Victor not too far behind, Goolwa, creek, yank and compass would improve with Bays going backwards and Strath continuing to rebuild.
Overall, the first round turned out like that. To me, the margins (willunga by 97, pongy by 63, McLaren by 42) were a surprise and stamp that they are the sides to beat. Bigger surprises were the bays 93 point win and the creek/goolwa game going down to the wire.

To me Pongy showed the benefits of a good preseason. Victor had 9 changes from their GF winning side and in hindsight were going to up against it. Only 3 have actually left for other clubs so there are some to come back in. Losing GF BoG Elmes to an ACL in preseason is a big loss.

Managed to get down and watch the mclaren/compass game and i dont think the end score did compass justice.
They look much improved from last year with ziggy back and another big fella in their fwd line?

I think they retained the ruckman they had last year who gave the mids first use quite easily but it looked like the mid group couldn't capitalise.

I reckon compass will suprise a few this year!
