Seems like this may be on the cards. Club meeting in the next week to discuss.
Where in Div 1 would the premiership team sit with current strength? I suspect around 4th -5th. Would struggle in the reserves to be top 5.
Certainly after an almost perfect year with all grades making the Grand in Div 2, it definitely creates a window of opportunity to move up.

I'm not sure you appreciate the difference in quality between the two divisions. In 2014, Mt Lofty were undefeated in Div 2, and yet when they went up to Div 1 in 2015 they finished 9th.

Based on Div 1 in 2017, I suspect that Nairne would have finished 8th (out of nine teams, probably only above Lobethal, but even that is debatable).

I think that Nairne, like Bridgewater and Kersbrook before them, should make the decision on whether to nominate for Div 1 based on what is best for the whole club, particularly the junior grades.

Spot on Elmer. Although lofty when they went back up in 2015 lost a lot of key players.

Having seen both comps in the past few years i think Nairne would be ahead of lobe and probably around the mark with lofty and onkas. Their Bs would be in the lower echelon of sides also. There is a massive difference between div 1 and div 2 as shown by us making the GF in div 2 this year. If we played an all local team in div 1 we would have been destroyed on a weekly basis in div 1. If nairne can recruit some high quality players then they may be alright but they will have to recruit some very handy players to make the 5 in div 1.

Daniel Lackenby has been named senior coach of the RAMS in 2018. He’s had a great apprenticeship under Fielke and was a strong favourite with the playing group.

Whisper on the street is J MAC is leaving Bridgewater to join a couple of other gun Hills players in offering their services elsewhere. If true the club of choice will be very hard to beat. Also dropped into the local today to see the new Nairne coach having a beer with a big name player, if they recruit him they will be dangerous again in 2018.

Confirmed

8 team div 1

They have lost senior players and can’t fill all junior sides which is a requirement to play Div 1

I don't believe he is anymore. Which would explain a player exodus (lack of coin) and the move to Div 2.

That was my thought. Wasn’t the club rooms on his property?

They play out of both Mt Torrens & Mt Pleasant - both on council land I am quite sure.

Must have been. I am led to believe the bloke poured a fair bit of money into the club, employed a few blokes etc. Fair enough, his money, he can spend it however he likes. I think his son/s have taken over the business now, as Gary would be around retirement age. Perhaps they have different views on sponsorship?

As an aside I am quite sure the TVFC President stood down mid season, and another bloke I know stepped in at short notice. All these things would be distractions to the club at the least, and major factors leading to a move back to Div 2.

Let's hope TV work hard on becoming a smaller-area, local, Div 2 club, which is what they have always been.
Also, let's hope Birdwood and TV don't look at merging again.
It is a good thing for Div 2 to have another northern club IMO.
