Shame job Jacksons,Wilson, Harris... Great team men hey!! No I in team but there is MEAT and thats how Ray treats his boys!

These guys was only picked due to injuries from the port game, I can tell you wilson will play against port. There are selection trouble at centrals this week, Ray will be tested with curnow, callary and couple more fit to play this week. So do you go with harden bodies or the young lads played aginst port in the semi.

Overall 2 hard fought senior games at Central Oval on Saturday I thought. It was always going to be a scrappy in and under affair in the B grade even without the weather and Port jumped out of the blocks early to have a goal before Lions even touched the ball. The heat clearly took it out of the players with the early intensity providing a 10 goal opening quarter while just 2 points were scored in the final (both by Port against the wind). As someone said above the selections from Lions were interesting to say the least... Goodridge (last year's medal winner, A grade most of 2011), Wardle, Harmer, Champion and Pellegrini all could have made the difference on the day. Even more surprising was old stalwart Bessen being dragged 3 minutes into the first and spending most of the day on the pine?! Port simply played smarter footy when heavy legs set in and were more committed to helping their mates and attacking the ball.

The A grade had the potential to cause cardiac arrests both in the crowd and to the players! Centrals and South matched each other all day and were inseparable at the final siren with Centrals running out winners by 14 points following 2 periods of extra time. Neither side could really get a run on and it was a fantastic battle in the midfield. Woolford seemed to find some form, as did Kenny and Morris did the job again at full forward. South should be proud of the way they played with Strucky leading from the front and being ably assisted by Reid and young Wingfield.

Looking ahead to the grand finals and the favourites will undoubtedly be the teams who stayed in the shade on the weekend. Sollies look the goods in thirds and are a quality side with the injection of A grade experience in the past few weeks. West cleaned up Port by 9 goals in the final minor round game but this game promises to be much closer and I think Port might even just get over the line if they can stifle the West runners in the middle. I'm tipping Port (just!) in the A grade to top off a remarkable comeback season after finishing last in 2010, the week off should give them fresher legs in the last quarter in what is going to be another great battle though Centrals have plenty of premiership experience and could swing it the other way. Good luck to all on the day!

At least scott's focus was actually playing the game, and he was certainly never instructed to go out and target players.

 Get off the weed !! Same fulla that ran off the bench in the GF to try to take out a player off the ball at a centre bounce last year? He was picked for that sh!t man.

....But so was Ray Hayes during his career they say so prob did pick Willo for that reason. (That who yer talkin about? Saw him do a some dirty things saturday.)

You can't be fair dinkum mate, all I'll add to the matter is that I've never seen a bloke get 2nd best player for getting 3 touches who wasn't a tagger..he played the consumate team game obviously

Should be a big day with first game starting at 9 with the 15's champions of both towns having a crack..hopefully souths can snag two flags and gale kicks a dozen in the a's!

Thanks for the summary FW- some interesting points – surely plugger was injured if he spent that long off. Re Lions selections doubt very much these lads would leave and if they did certainly not to sollies, unfortunately they have a mixed history with recycled players. Heard that of all the players that they got from Ports over the last few years, there was only one playing seniors against them last time they met, Scrutts, I could name another 10 that didn't play & you would have to ask why? If any of these lads were to move I think over the ranges is more likely.
I will stick with the Pirie teams this weekend with the biggest favourite for the day the 18’s. They seem to be well coached and hopefully this group of lads will hang around! I hear he is throwing his hat in the ring for the senior job and winning wont do him any harm!

very strong rumour the fellas in question RE:selection for lions B grade have indicated they would be very interested with moving to solomontown as well as half a dozen from there A grade side who i believe solomontown have already had several discussions with. Not to many players or people who pull the strings over at the lions den happy with Brian Butchy Smith and were miffed with some of the decisions he made in the latter half of the year and i can tell you that came from a member on the board. Solomontowns senior colts coach has absolutely no hope of coaching solomontown A grade. Little whisper around town that a former solomontown champ will be putting his hand up, he has been helping out Adrian Duck Davies for the last few years and also former port champ D.Mellow.

The Lions team selected was bizarre, some weird selections and would have to cause some backlash with the players left out.

Who is the Sollies 18s coach, is it Sawyer?

As with every coach, Ray Hayes is employed by Central Augusta with 1 objective, win premierships and he has delivered 4 GF’s appearances in as many years at the helm with 2 victories and missing out by the narrowest of margins (1point) 3yrs ago. During this time of course he is going to upset a few, unfortunately some players miss out when it comes to the pointy end of the season it happens in all team sports from the highest level to grass roots. Those players who unluckily miss out can go either way, get the sh!ts buy a tennis racket or golf clubs and go play an individual sport or bust their guts next year and prove the coach wrong. I don’t think it is the fault of the players that get selected in front of these guys to play either. Time will tell if Ray gets it right i spose.

Just glad its not my club fulla thats all.Look these players have been around all the year and only are getting onboard now it sends an up yours to team mates hey. Wrecks the standards in a club when most are told to train before Christmass and others get to wait until the back up dollars come out in the lead up to finals. So only those with a good work ethic and need extra skill work and fitness should do preseason then??Whether Ray has got it right might hav more to do with the next few years then this weeks result.
Anyways Westies will get players out of it so thats all from me about it.
I hope the Port Augusta teams beat Pirie always so good luck to all.
