Rossco it gives a good insight from someone respected recently involved in the game and actually makes sense. What is the alternative? to hear about the Tasman 1961, 1962 back to back premierships and the 1961 Mortlock win every second week

Many would be astonished at the popularity of this site. Continually the silent observer is let down by the uneducated snipers, but the inner thoughts of ex-coaches, current umpires, ex A graders and the observant fathers/supporters enrich our base knowledge and enjoyment of the Australian game. It is un-Australian to whinge, backstab and lie, so you boys move on to therapy and let the real men discuss the world of Australian Rules Football. A new format on this site, a new awakening. 20,000 people round Lincoln, 130 A grade footballers, show some respect, those playing pay homage to your forebears, this is not only a game its your heritage, those who want to criticize, piss off and play bocce. Our society is full of ex footballers, anyone over 35 bar a few, but they were the same as you in their playing days, confident and successful or full of doubt and striving to better themselves and their team. Some of you deem yourselves priveleged enough to pass judgment on others, but the double edged sword will find you at some stage. If you think the words on these pages don't reach the ears of those 130 footballers, ur jerking yourself around. Think about your words, don't burn those that don't need it.

Lets start with the real game of the round......
Lincoln South v Mallee Park - Ravendale Oval
Umpires: Todd George & Scott Davey
Well what a start to the 2010 season for "Snapper" and the boys from Tennant Street...they have taken all before them, so far. Their run and carry, midfield speed and use of the ball behind the pack, releases the loose man to push the long ball quickly to their Tall forwards. Their forwards Stoetzer, Williams, Dunn and Marshall are producing the goods after a year together. Williams especially is looming as the current form small forward of the comp - he will find a tag or two soon when the coaches work it out. The talls you may be able to counter, with the stop of quick supply by midfiled pressure. Mallee Park, well I may just be wrong, they look a shadow of themselves of the previous couple of years, I know they are still missing Johncock, Betts and a few others - but it is their use of the ball which would be of most concern to the Peckers at the moment. The run from half back is missing, no one willing to run and support. No multiple hands to release the loose man, you know the old 1 / 2 that we have all seen for years! Souths will be too strong in this encounter, Mallees on the other hand got out of jail last week and after the game, they knew it as well....only two shots on goals in the last quarter for the Peckers - Souths ran the game out, overrunning the fit Roosters. They will put the controversy of last week behind them and take another scalp.......When was the last time the Eagles beat the Peckers .....maybe 2002??....Zigga Zagga Zigga Zagga Eagles

Waybacks v Bostons
Centenary Oval
Umpires: Jim Pap and Michael Blewitt
Im sure the walls of Pecker Park are still ringing after last weeks game. The Demons were all over the Peckers to fall short by 2 points. Just how is the forward line functioning 1 - 11 in two quarters against the Rangers and 7 points in the last quarter against the Peckers - Horgs must be pulling his hair out!! Nearly 50 entries into their fwd 50 last week for a return of 8 goals. They have flexibility with their side, plenty of talls, that can play at either end of the ground - that will help as the season goes on....BUT I think they still need to find a working combination up forward. Vogelsanger is a danger, as is Sampson - but the long and direct is not working - not yet anyway. Where now for the Tiges - up at three quarter time would have had the players and supporters up and about.... they worked over the Rangers for three quarters - then got run over, with the Rangers kicking 8 goals late. Did the Tiges run out of puff or did their structure fall over when the pressure was on. Midfield pressure is where this game will be won, if Waybacks give the Tigers as much ball as they gave the Peckers last week then a boil over is on the cards. Great to see Paechy back for Bostons after a terror run with injuries. Second best last week - does Paully play up forward - he kicked 4 last week. I think the Dees defence is solid and flexible, their midfield experienced with Keatley, Kelsh, Davidson, Joey - it's the conversion that is concerning. The Dees are missing a couple, but get Adam Kayser back after a fortnight off. Bostons have a similar problem up forward and the loss of Ebo wont help - Is their a new recruit on his way?? - that may be just wat their looking for - just not this week....Dees 1 - 39

Well what a game this will be.....
Tasman v Marble Range
Wangary
Umpires: Brenton Parsons & Craig Shearer
With all the to-ing and fro-ing of both these clubs in the pre-season.... it's finally here! Whats a "poaching tribunal" between friends!! Carl Semmler, a fantastic player for the Rangers now coaching Tasmans. Tasmans of all teams, I hear the Ranger faithfull calling. There is no love lost on these two clubs. Carl to Tasmans and Matt Parker back to the Rangers, two playing coaches, two astute guys on the sidelines with Sticks and Stink.... the plot thickens. Unfortunately for the Maggies I reckon thats where the excitment stops. Tasmans will be hurting after last weeks loss.... but to be honest maybe, just maybe it's exactly what they needed - the forth and bubble has subsided and a few feet are back on earth. It has been exciting for them, for the first time in a few years they look to have assembled a team that can go deep into September - when the wather fines up and the rain has stopped. So Ranger fans pray for rain - for the seeding and to stop the rolling maul of the very tall Rooster team. Rangers are a proud club and will take it up to the Roosters for a half, but Tasmans will be too fit and will have too many options up forward, and I think the Rangers havent got the man power to cover the all those forwards AND kick a score themselves - especially with out 6 from Seeman. Matt Parker is a key, can he hold up a key forward position or play as the roaming forward - 3 goals last week. Does Brooks go forward like he did last week - or will they need him down back.....A long day for the Magpie coaching staff - Tasmans 1 -39

Thats enough from me - Good luck to all teams....

there's a truckload of non-posters who talk to me about the site...

"Did you read this on the site?"
"You're Marble Park right?"
"Do you know who ... is?"
"What are you going to write about this?"

Certainly a massive amount of interest, and I'm surprised there aren't more people out there queuing up to join....
