Oh well ab. I'm glad for Maccy that they've appointed a credible coach. Hopefully credible players will follow

Quick question why is it that when you talk of sj's achievments everyone leaves out the one year he coached Golden Grove in div 5 SAAFL?? Ill tell you why because he took the side from 6th place to rock bottom the next year, true champion. If I now here he didnt have the cattle why is it that they have now gone on to play in consecutive Grand Finals and are seemingly moving up through the grades?? The words credible coach hurt my ears. True sign of the bloke when he took the side to one or two wins and two draws in the season not to turn up at the clubs presentation that year. He is true to his word however, said he was an impact coach...deffinately made an impact. said he wasnt there to make friends....so true. Not saying the guy is the worst coach i have ever seen, not at all but have seen many times when there has been plenty of mentions of his achievments and this year is convieniently left out. Good luck Maccy i believe you will need it.

I have played under SJ in juniors some years back and know him and he is a full on sort of bloke. He is passionate about what he does, but this can rub people the wrong way. Obviously Maccy need someone diffrent. Good luck to Maccy and SJ.

Deffinately passionate i will agree there, maybe gets a little over passionate at times. I wont pretend to know anything about maccy or the Hills league in general and he coached GGFC 3 years ago now so he may have improved some i dont know so agree good luck to both.

Tamarappa may make the grade, switched on he is a good player. However Toffoli may be getting on in years to keep up with the likes of Willunga, Langhorne Creek, Strath etc., if they weren't standouts in Hills Country, they could struggle in the GSFL.

Thought Kenilworth were going to lue Tamarappa back to St Marys Park?

Good to see some controversy and spirited discussion re SJ's appointment at Maccy. Country footy is a small world where few coaches can come to a club without a reputation of sorts, good or bad. Coaches with strong personalities such as SJ's will appeal to some and repel others, this site being a great example of clubs' and individuals' experiences of the guy. And we have the freedom here to relate those experiences. No, I've never played under SJ but have heard various comments from guys who have. I have also had some lively discussions with him and his passion for the game really shines through. That's what matters to me in football, so I can't knock the guy and can only call it as I see it.

I've experienced all manner of coaches over the years with a myriad of different behaviours. I could go on and on........... I reckon the die-hards at Maccy would have pretty thick skins by now anyway, as do most die-hards at lowly clubs. I hope everyone gives SJ a go and the players get behind him. And Maccy deserve a break, so good luck to them all.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

Interesting rating of the players there as only 3 of those finished in the top 10 of the B&F.

Vaninetti has not retired and Foster is no certainty to retire either but they would have if the status quo had remained in 2009.

Wouldn't be surprised if that is the case Gilligan. I know he had a few of the boys fighting fit and in ripping condition eg. Bascombe.

Ben Coleman signed on as Lofty coach for next 2 years not sure wat the $$$ is. News on appointments from Kangy land: NEWS FLASH STRINGER HAS GOT THE BOOT! Smelty A grade gig is his, with the under 14s coach matt quist to coach/player/captain the B grade. word is $40,000 for smelty and for him to bring players. Apparantly there is alot of tailem boys and Imps boys are heading down south. Also Nairne Bremmer Star Nathan Twoomey is heading down south aparently got connections with the presidents son.

Iron Chef... that is crap.

lard arse Radis will be looking after the 2nd's again,

not sure about the stringer/smelt situation, but what ever the decision both men are great assets for the club.

the only way smelt would get 40k is if Radis emptied out the change in his back pocket!
