I mean im sure most clubs could get by, playing top class footy with just 2 or 3. Any thoughts?

Yes - I think most clubs could and should - I guess the rule is really there to stop clubs just tipping in a stack of cash and buying a premiership. If you have a look around the country leagues, if each league just had its own players (pipe dream I know!) the standard of football would be fine.

How many "local" players are playing good football in other leagues? I don't know the answer but I am sure there are plenty. Chapman springs to mind immediately but I bet there are more.

Some mates played with him at Centrals and said he is very talented but lacks committment. He did play association so must go alright. Football follower seems to be a Kilburn man so that might be whay he's asking about him. Same goes for Daniel Coleman who we were meant to pick up last year. Footballfollower asked about him in the GSFL forum.

Most people say APFL is about the same standard as div 3 Start.

Having seen a fair bit of Chris close up, and the expectations that will be required from O'Connor, Chris will struggle to make the Kilburn team. Dont get me wrong a usefull player at United, but to heavy and lacks fitness to be any value in Div 3

Start, I know this quote is old! Anyway, he seems alot slimmer and must have had a fair preseason. From the games I've watched at Kilburn (B's and A's) it seems that Calyun has got himself a spot not only in the A's, but also in the engine room (seems useful in the "Kilburn team" to me).

Good on him, i bet theres a few Kilburn players walking a bit taller with him on the paddock and a few opposition coming off second best after he runs through them. He's a solid boy, i know i felt the full brunt of one C.Calyun special, with the lot!!

I would have to say that imports are used generally in this league to top up or supplement the local talent. but the main are pretty handy.

I've also made some great mates out of blokes that came to our club as imports but have been around for a while and are now well and truly locals. I also don't think any club would play an import just because he's an import if there was a better local available.

He made All-Australian in the Aboriginal carnival and was in the BPs for Kilburn last week.

Two Wells vs Mallala - Mallala by 12 points
United vs Virginia - United by 5 points
Hummocks vs Hamley - Eagles by 23 points

First two games could go either way but surely the bombers can't string 2 wins together. Or can they?....

Yes - it is going to be a very interesting round - see how much Virginia and Two Wells have improved. Has Hamley improved? Will they just be happy picking up the win last week or be hungry for more success?

Swampy - have Mallala got a full squad?
Rooster - have you?

Don't know about droppies knee but yes I agree - non-locals always add to the competition interest and it does expand the profile of the APFL - that can't be bad.

What's the opinions on United's Matthew Leigh? Anyone seen him play yet? He comes with a pretty good rap from what I have heard?
