Out of curiosity how did Echunga junior grades fare last year in country, finish in the top two or three? Because well be playing them as we'll as they're A grade I guess.

Mt Lofty down, Echunga virtually up at this stage, that's the simple equation ... time for Devils to take the medicine from a situation which has arisen, drop down, recruit strongly and get the job done as far as at least reaching 2014 Country A-grade grand final ... then apply for promotion and be back in the Central fold for 2015. A flag is a flag if you are good enough, no matter what competition and perhaps if some results are blown out next season, no blame for Mt Lofty, just doing what they have to get back up ... take it as a year in exile Devils and place someone else in the Central hot seat for relegation ... maybe we could see the implementation of regular promotion and relegation as per Amateur League, and not just a hit and miss HFL process at the moment ... case of wrong place at wrong time for Mt Lofty ... they have faced and overcome bigger adversity than this ... proud of the past, confident of the future, so the challenge has been set. However, up to HFL to find a suitable competition for the juniors ... isn't that the league creed about fostering football ... not destroying it. Lofty losing juniors will certainly have blood on the hands of the wise heads at HFL house.Anyway, Cambrai is a nice spot in July they reckon????

I think the HFL do a fair job of finding a suitable competition for the juniors in country div. Would like to see anyone else program all teams playing at the same venue on the same day when the draw has 9 teams in A/B grade, only 5 teams in S/C, 7 teams in J/C (and not the same teams missing as in S/C) and then 7 teams in U13 (again not the same missing teams as in S/C & J/C). It cant be done. The only way to make it fully fair is to have a totally independent comp (like in the city) where the juniors don't follow the seniors & nobody wants that.
Don't see how the HFL will have "blood on their hands" if Lofty lose some juniors, by enforcing the rules that everyone here seems to want them to enforce. The HFL seem damned if they do enforce the rules & damned if they don't.

What is the big deal with this relegation? It happens every year in the Amatuer League and no one whinges or complains. It happens once every 3-5 years in the HFL and the club nominated cracks a hissy fit. Follow your god damn rules for christ sakes and swallow some pride. Sounds like Mt Lofty are full of arrogance and ego's. Go down win a flag or play in a GF and come back up. Simple.

Facts are lofty are crap in seniors and finished bottom. Loby were too before last year but as no one wanted to come up from country they where lucky for 3 years straight. Just make relegation and promotion compulsory year in year out and then everyone know the rules. Otherwise make a 14 team league with kersbrook, birdwood , nairne up in central as well and tell the others to amalgamate or go elsewhere. Nothing is going to change as the current board shows no leadership and is dictated to by williams and co at the self interested so called big clubs. 1 or 2 clubs are getting sick of it from what I hear and looking for change. It won't take much unfortunately.

In 2002 we (Loby) were top and mt lofty were bottom, in 2008 they were top and we were bottom, in 2013 we are 3rd and they're bottom, it s all cycles and an ounce of luck, Birdwood took the bullet for us.

No. They won the div 2 flag in 1981 & have been in div 1/central div ever since.

Very happy with the advent of the football program at the school, but definitely no links with Mt Lofty.

Was thinking the exact same thing!
They won 2 games last season, they deserve to be in the Country division!

Would Torrens Valley consider a year in the Country division now that Hughes Contruction has officially pulled the pin on the club?

Is the Echunga of 2013 stronger than the Torrens Valley of 2010?

I think the better question is Will the Echunga of 2014 be the same as the squad of Echunga 2013... ?
When Torrens Valley Moved up at the end of 2010 they lost half of their Premiership Team from the Previous Year,
Going on what happened at Echunga at the end of 2012 with their mass clearances (over half the senior A grade side) will the same happen around Jan/Feb??? this year....

Agreed, rules are rules and some people need to learn to accept that!

Not according to Mt Lofty. Apparently they want natural justice! Are you kidding me. They think it's unfair they finished bottom of the points table and want another year to get back on their feet. They believe they've got coin to spend on players now which will see success on the field. So they want to change the by-law, spend more money on players to drag their arse off the bottom of the points table. Bit of a slap in the face for Birdwood and then for the team that has to go down in 2015. Give me a break. Furthermore they are supported by other big town Central clubs in Mt Barker, Onkas, Hahndorf and Lobethal. Are these the bully clubs of the HFL? I wonder.
