Glenn Buick was a great pack mark. Amazed me the number times he took the mark when opposition players were in the better position to spoil. One grab and that was it.

One named who I'm pretty sure wasn't 6 foot but a was sensational player was none other than

David 'Floggers' Florance. He could play football.
Success is in trying

Old Floggers "sharpest elbows going around too"!!!!
What a gun. Just won the B grade association medal back to back, after about 7 A grade medals, and still had time to play a couple of A grade games in the process.
Definately not 6 foot, but played like he was, taking pack marks and dominating wherever you put him. "Coaches Dream"! Ive tried to get him drafted into my Super Coach team regularly. There would be massive ppoints with that. Imagine what he could have done if you could have actually got him to training once in a while!!!

Hay Grape Ape, he still is 500 and crushing kids when he can catch'em!!! He also still likes to reaquaint himself with some of his old foes in the magoos too!!!

One other player to fit the bill was Alan "Nugget" Wilson
he was 6 foot of pure heart. great player .One of the hardest and willing players to come across the staight and don a Yank jumper. Came across with Floggers. What a combo. Pity these type of players dont front up at yankalilla these days.

Yea Yank could do with it!!!
Nugget has couch the colts over on KI for a couple of year now and taught them about his footy ethic's "BRAINS, HEART, & BALLS" always played with his heart on his sleeve, but wouldnt like to stand in front of him on a lead.
Yank have had a fair few eagles over the years go between the clubs, Brad Willson, Spud Willson, Nugget, Floggers, Glenn Buick, Bob Willis, Crossy, Bilney, Lloydy and most recently Duel Mail Medalist Clayton Willson pulled on the tigers gurnsey early last year before leading the Eagles to the Premiership and picking up his second consecutive BOG on the way!

Yea Grape the Association ended up seeing sence at this stage and decided not to cap the number of imports "those who grew up and played junior football on KI before moving to the mainland and travel back each week (with no $ involved) to try to keep the association competative" It does seem that some of the clubs have had a head count of their own and realised they too mite be over the requested number by one club in particular!!!!! It seem to be more of fight to keep that club merging with a near by club which happen to struggle for numbers too, but is also their biggest rival!!!!!!!

There is also a roumor one of the west ends legends who has been coaching a differnt club for the past few years, will be returning out west to get the club back to its best!!!!!!

Is this the same coach who took the Panthers from premiers to a wooden spoon in his first year? He just had no game plan without Scotty Redden...

How are Wisanger looking this year?

Simon Bullock from Riverland Independent club Moorook-Kingston is a new recruit for this season.

Wisanger are looking to put their past couple of year behind them!!!! They have been going with the young fellas the past couple of years and were starting to look good towards the end of last season. With a new coach and a couple of retired player to come back should be round the mark!!! Word is there is a couple of new lads running around out there also which should add some depth to the club, its just a matter of if they can play or just look good on the track like many before them. The trouble for Wisanger has been after they got to the top all their guns "thomas, lade, berden, jamison, bornholm and bates" left to explore their option overseas.

At this stage Kingscote and Western districts look to be the front runners topping up their lists from last year.
Back to back premiers Dudley shouldnt be far behind, although they have lost a number of players from their squad!!!
Parndana should again struggle, for the simple fact they havent got the numbers unless they are quietly working away behind the scences to get past players back at the club.

Word has it that ben baxter mite also venture accross the waters to have a trot, with his lod mates the Tretheweys out a 'Darna. Could be coupe of the season if it happens!!! Apparrently his misses has friends over there and he played with the boys at the panthers!!!!!!!!

Eagle Rock the pace of KI footy would be too hot for Baxter i believe hes staying on the hill at Willunga.

You left off the dominant forward Nev Clarke from that list of Wisanger players. Defected back to Dudley and has carried the side along with Clayton Wilson!!! A much-loved and admired player who left Willunga end of '03' to pursure Island Greatness!

Yea you mite be right about baxter BJ. Especially playing home games at Darna, one of the biggest ovals in SA, his age and fitness mite be against him!!!! Stick to golf son, where you can use a cart!!!!

I wouldnt be putting N Clark in the same bracket as the other lads!!! Apparrently overrated the big unit!!!! I heard he really enjoyed his time with the D's and may make a come back at some stage in the two's!!!!! The only problem when he was there the first time was he couldnt get a kick!!!!

I seem to remember Clark getting plenty of kicks at the D's. Trouble is they were all points! I remember a classic at Yank when the big unit ran into an open goal with the D's one point down with seconds to go in the last - only to hit the post! He was a cult figure at Demonland and the club would love to have him back.

I to have heard the Ben Baxter to Parndana rumour. I wonder if Baxter is a aware of just how big that oval is and the white shorts? Not flattering on the best of bums....

Ape i think you have your games mixed up!!!! The game your thinking of the open goal incident, was down at Strat and he was actually lucky to get a score from about 15m out in front!!!! The yank game he read the ball from a ruck contest at about 50m in the wet on his left boot which skidded into the post and tied the game. Lucky to any points out of that game at all really!!!

Yea the white shorts on Baxter!!!! I remember a footy trip where he mite have run into trouble if he had, had them on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He mite be better suited to even further west than Darna, where the ovals smaller and he can paddle around in the mud to slow everyone down to his pace!!!

Any word on if BJ is running around for the D's this season?

Brian Jonas will not play this season at Willunga.

I do remember the day that Nevvy hit the post against Yank and yes GA it was a shot from about 40-50 metres out that skidded into the post in the wet.

Ok, sorry boys. To me 40-50 out, left foot in the wet = open goal.

What's this about a Dudley/ Yank merger? I heard that Brodie Howard from over there was being chased by a couple clubs in the GSFL.... One in particular were runners up last year, apparently he's got the wood over the ruckman from the D's who destroyed them in the GF????
