Just my 2c on SJ. He will put some noses out of joint, but IMO, he will be good for the club. Could be just the rocket it needs. Hopefully, the locals have a major input on the field as well.

From what I saw in Simon Johnson's time at Angaston , he was very passionate and enthusiastic right from when he arrived at the club and this enthusiasm rubbed off on the players and talking to some of the players numbers out at training increased so hopefully same thing will happen with Maccesfield locals and they can have a good season in 2009.

Anyone confirm Torrens Valley recruits to this point in time have heard in Springton pub that Mark Clayton ( Port magpies SANFL captain ) has signed for 2009 and been out to a training run already also a couple of others but didn't catch their names 1 ex Barossa league and 1 from Hills Div 1

Is the Hills Div 1 player Anthony Cooper or is there another one? If so, who or at least which club?

Do you have trouble reading Hillbilly??

1. Terminator said he was taking 14 new players to maccy
2. I said that it would be better to focus on locals
3. Aceman said the locals aren't interested - go for recruits
4. I said thats crap - stick with locals

Now you can choose to disagree with what I've said but don't insult the readers on here and say that 3. and 4. are the same thing.

I'm not insulting anybody!...You've obviously never been to Macclesfield or looked at their past win loss ratio...you might understand why their recruiting...champ

Don't hang the guy for trying to improve the club.

1st- This strongly implies that the locals are not interested - sorry!
2nd - I couldn't give a rats-arse about Maccy - I was initially commenting on the recruitment of 14 new faces to a small country footy club
3rd - Don't confuse such recruiting with anything other than self-promotion and glory seeking

Alice, mine was a suggestion based on the results of past seasons, where do you get the 'not interested' tag from, implied or otherwise?

The biggest load of 'cocky crap' posted on here for a long, long time. Can I also suggest you read all posts again and work it out, you've missed the nuts and bolts and you're floundering in your own words!

Further to the discussion about Mark Clayton and TV.......I don't want to seem naive - but how can a HFL Country team afford to pay key recruits so much ?

Do TV have a generous benefactor ? or are they just working real hard to secure large sponsorships ?

Macclesfield are keen to do better as is the bulk of their squad in 09. I had talks with them re coaching at the end of last year and they are a club that does want to go somewhere. It is not a big town population wise, so ofcourse they need to bring in non-locals to their club 1. to improve 2. to put pressure on locals that have had an easy ride for A grade games in the past. They have good facilities and I hope SJ the new coach can ram it up a few sh#tdribblers on this forum. Good on him for taking the job and I hope he sees it through, and good on them for recruiting heavily - you need this to shake the place up a bit. Good luck Maccy and why don't people back the hell off them, everyone is good at advice for lower ranked teams. Good luck the bloods in 09 and beyond.

I know that the three TTG boys that are heading up to Maccy next year are great blokes on and off the field. Honest contributors who give 100% no matter what. They will definitely bring some personality to the club. If this is the direction that the club is taking, then I believe they should be on the right track. A cellar-dwelling side needs to roll the dice at some stage and recruit heavily to build success, lets hope this is the year that it pays off.

How long before it becomes known as the G.H. Construction League?
He seems to be able to really pull the wool over the HFL Directors eyes so that should be a 'soda' for him getting the name changed!

Okay, it can be known as the Hughes Construction Football League Country Division.

He has constructed his teams on his terms, not those applicable to other clubs within the league. Who said "money doesn't speak all languages"

Aceman, there's no salary cap so what does it matter???? As long as they're not over the points on match day he can recruit anyone he wants.

Correct me if I'm wrong but prior to the 'points'sytem, there was a salary cap in place. The biggest "toothless tiger" that the SANFL and it's affiliated leagues have ever dreamt up and implimented.
It was tailor made to rort because it had more holes in it than a rusty tea strainer and noone had the 'balls' to put it to the test. Here is a classic example, give a bloke a job, build him a pergola, install a new hot water service or the likes, anything that is not traceable and he is the man for all reasons.
Just happen to know a couple of TV players personally, they wish they were 10 years younger and could really 'cash in"

For Christ's sake Ace! Gepps have been the biggest rorters of the salary cap ever, perhaps only surpassed by Salisbury North! I guess you are talking from experience, but I think it's time to stop being jealous of another team taking it up to you in the salary cap breaching stakes.
