Looking through the years results apart from dropping the ball on Lofty and Hahndorf (of course) Nairne’s smallest win was 9 goals against Onkas…. Have 3 100+ point wins and another 13 goal win on Uraidla…. Their best is as good as anyone, but Hahndorf don’t have much of a gap between their best and worst which makes them the side they are. What’s with the fixture? Lofty played 5 home games already and only 2 away? Nairne the opposite… is it that hard to have alternate weeks home and away?

Does sound weird. I'm sure there's a template they use that does that. Obviously can't have it home/away for the entire season as the teams that played home (or away) in round 1 have to play each other eventually. It might be that Lofty & Nairne decided to change their clashes this year for functions

Everyone plays everyone twice so doesn’t matter I guess.

Nairnes rise and kicking bags of goals would have a lot to do with delivery to Hourigan. Since Hourigan moved to Nairne he hasnt been anywhere near the dominant player that he was when he was at Hahndorf and thats because of the delivery. Nairne have recruited and the ball is getting to him to his liking and the results are showing that. Whether Nairne have what it takes to topple Hahndorf only time will tell, but I wouldnt be ruling Nairne or Mt Lofty out as potential premiership material.

Side issue, I would like to hope that there are already discussions and planning taking place to make sure that the Grand Final is at the Summit this year. If the HFL and Clubs are serious about using an AFL quality ground, it needs to happen. Grand Final venue every year for the Country and Div 1. By 1 July, ask all clubs to put their hand up if they want to host the grand final at the Summit. A random draw takes place and then that Club has access to the Summit clubroom say from Thursday or Friday until Sunday 5pm. Allow them to go in stock fridges set up and they take all the takings and the gate goes to the HFL like it always does.

And the A grade teams playing on GF day have access to train at the Summit, the team finishing higher has Thursday night and the other team Tuesday night.

It is absolutely ridiculous if the GF isnt played there. And if clubs complain about not getting a Grand Final at the home ground due to lost revenue, surely there options like this one I have suggested?

I think Lofty now have a couple in a row away, it’ll even out.
GF’s an interesting one. I reckon going for the best deck/facilities has big merit.
I think on the big deck, with Lofty’s run today - they SHOULD open up the premiers. However, poor kicking at goal may see that game closer than it should be.

Other games:
Onkas will take it to Hahndorf, but fall short with the Dorf running it out strong, by 6 goals.
Nairne will smash Blackwood by more than 12 goals.
Uraidla to continue Echunga’s misery by 10 goals.
Mt Barker should put away the Ironraiders by about 5 goals.
Just my…

Watching coverage - again, poor conversion by Devs.

Looks like I was a bit too kind…
Some real floggings this round. Surely Blackwood hasn’t lost like that in a long, long time?
Devs wouldn’t have beaten Lobey by that amount in a while.
That top 5 looks to be pretty strong.

I went to my first game in 3 weeks to watch my nephew play for Blackwood against Nairne, easy travel from MTB for me.

Nairne were ruthless. I think they kicked closed to 20 goals in the second half and speaking to a few of their past premiership players what they thought was probably their weakest side for the year…

I think the tip 4/5 is comfortably ahead of everyone else.

Don’t have the cattle…. Somehow…. 2 weeks in a row haven’t kicked a goal in the first half. Only kicked 4 yesterday in a 15 minute period and then let 15 goals through in the last quarter and 5-6 minutes of the game. Can’t recall them finishing too much lower than the 5 for a long time? Lucky Echunga & Bridgey are propping them up in 8th

Top 3 goal kickers - all from Nairne, 94 goals between them.
That. Is. Crazy.

Wow! You’d be happy for 3 forwards to kick 100 together in a season in HFL D1….

HFL lose both interleague games today. Div 1 first loss to RMFL in 25 odd years and i our first interleague loss in general in a long time? Lots of big names not playing, how can we make it more of a draw card?

Don't play it on a long weekend anymore.
It's hard enough getting people interested these days to play a regular season.
Times have clearly changed for younger players and the commitment towards football.

It's only the directors of each league that really want to keep it going IMO. Most players love having a mid season break from football, they don't even go to watch their mates playing in the game any more. I've seen a lot of Instagram posts of players gone away for the weekend.

Can any one answer why they are selling the league admin offices at Mt Barker?

The back of the building was condemned about 10 years ago I think. It was a case of either spend a heap on renovating or move.

Yeah I think alot of people can't wait for that long weekend during the season these days especially if they have kids.

Thoughts on the round?
Lobey v IBB - hmmm, I’ll tip the premiers, but I expect it will not be a blow out.
Hahndorf v Blackwood - oooh jeez. If dry - 90 pts.
Lofty v Echunga - as above. With Miles back, could be more. Sykes to kick 10.
Uraidla v Onkas - game of the round. Uraidla to assert some dominance & win by 6 goals.
Barker v Nairne - Rams by 10 goals.

Ok, I see on the coverage that it looks like wet tracks up there. In light of that, my margins are halved.
