Yep exactly like that..... although as Ive mentioned earlier his spending was nowhere near what it is now and we still had locals left over to help us survive. We were NEVER an arrogant club under GH, partially because we never really much good when he coached our A grade. Its amazing though, TV went from a nice local type club who were great to play against and hang around after matches etc..... to well.... what they are now.

If only ONE Tv player came in for a drink after a game..I feel they might receive a hearing BUT ..they dont..

Yes ..they have a culture that will never make them popular and this will be there downfall..

Exactly right. After what GH did to our footy club there was a time when he wasnt welcome back into our clubrooms (not that this wouldve bothered him much anyway), but those times passed and everyone is more than welcome to come back and have a drink...... out of all the teams in the league its those guys who never do. As strong a rivalry as weve had with Kersy over the years (perhaps not the last 5 or so due to our performances) the one thing both sides have always done is share a few beers together during the night..... no matter what happened on the field.

Kersy and Gum have had a great relationship over the years now even though the Brookers keep beating Gums.

Kersrbrook 80 goal winners and Brad Lees no goals?????

If 300 points is the gap between 8th and 9th, surely the HFL cant let them continue even with what they said in the final siren about them wanting to keep playing. If they are going to play it needs to be against teams in which they have a chance of being competitive like mentioned previously, in the C-Grade.
No matter who you are and how much you love footy, there surely cant be anybody out there that would say they would be happy getting pumped by at least 300pts week in week out. Would it be possible to have a merger with another club, say Nairne.

tell me i read the echunga gums score incorrectly!!! what happened there? can anyone shed some light? that has the potential to really throw a spanner in the works later in the year

had the opportunity to watch the nairne/kangarilla game yesterday. very good game indeed. highly contested and well fought by both teams. kangy up by 10 point with about 7 minutes to go after being down at 3/4 time but seemed to run out of legs in the final dash. no brett wakefield or jamien stringer yesterday may have been the difference

nairne played very well for most of the game but are not as good as what i was expecting given the hype ive heard from some people. dont seem to be as strong around the ground as last year but definatly around the mark. twoomey can certaionly play, couldve kicked more ife he was on song. looking foward to the next time these two teams clash.

was thinking before i saw the echunga/gums score that it mightve been nairne, kangy and echunga fighting out for positions 3, 4 and 5 on the ladder but maybe gums will get a look in too...

I read the article on pages 4 and 5 of the Sunday Mail about Callington with interest today. I only hope that it achieves the desired effect of getting more players to the club, although wonder how many quality players, that are not already signed, are in the marketplace.

All I would say is that I hope it has a positive effect for the club, and doesn't merely serve to highlight their current plight for any potential players for 2010. Sometimes additional publicity in a statewide publication may not have the desired effect.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Gums will get even better as the recruits get more cohesive and Thommo improves his grasp on the English language...

A big shot for third..if the recruits and locals get treated the same

nairne without murphy and Gransbury ( both overseas)..hard to cover these guys who where 1 and 2 in their B & F last yr.

I dont thnik ben Arbon ( best against Echunga) played and they lost Lines half way thru the game.

Nairne have work to do..cant believe that kangas fell out the game.. fitness?? Where was raidis?? no goals.

raidis was at the other end of the ground playing on twoomey.. kangy will need to find a better match up beofre the next time these two teams meet. radar matched him for strength but much shorter than twooms. i think kilsby will take him next time if he's available. havent seen much of arbon but from what ive heard he can play. probably a similar impact on a game as a wakefield. would be great to see them go head to head

kangy definatly ran out of fitness. this was evident in both grades as both were up and then died in the final minutes. kangy also have a real mixture of old and new players and will need more time playing together to really gel as a unit. i think there is the same sort of talent in the side as previous years just not the same level of 'team' yet.

spoke to a few echunga boys yesterday and they were quote 'scared of the semi criminals' in the gumeracha side from what i heard they controlled alot of the game but didnt want the hard ball after a few nasty hits which is uncharacteristic of the demons.

kangy have the magpies this week which hopefully will be a good contest. to be honest im getting tired of watching 20 goal drubbings. close, hard fought games are better for the overall improvement of the comp and teams

bloke who was umpiring the clly/maccy game reckons maccy might push for finals if they get their act together... any thoughts?
