I think people are overeacting about Gums new players. I watched the game on Sat and there was not one thing that was untoward. The send of was soft (echunga would agree with this). Both sides played good hard football. What is the point of writing comments like 'the big fella' when all they do is stereotype players that have done nothing wrong and have helped make Gums a competitive team, which is better for the competition.

Are we gonna hear again from the Birdwood posters after Maccy gave Callington a 50 goal thrashing? Are they gonna slag their greatest coach of the past 15 years for this result? C'mon Rooster and Gimp, what did you think of Terminator's tactics on the weekend?

I Don't Think Echunga People would agree with that "Interested", the player that was sent off targeted one of Echungas Best, Hit him from behind at a centre bounce while the player was watching the ball, the idiot didn't realise there was an umpire right behind him and was sent off, only one that was picked up, It was a tough game but to say most of the hits and behind the play stuff was fair is another thing, and if they keep doing it then they bring the Stereotype on themselves, as I have heard other clubs say exactly the same thing.

Ahhh once again the Gumeracha boys are unfairly slagged off by everyone else. Boy oh boy makes for some new reading doesnt it. The send off appeared to be a bit soft IMO but all day it just appeared the Echunga boys were scared to go near the ball without the Gum boys actually doing anything untoward. Theyre just covering themselves for a loss they didnt expect against a side no one really rated. They gave up 5 goals when they were a man up on the field...... no excuses.

Jono was in no way the best coach we've had in 15 years. The success we attained during this period was not due to his ability to coach. And it is no great complement to compare Brett to the terminator.

i don't really have a problem with what the brookers did. Whilst i think it's sad that a club i really enjoyed playing against has hit such a low I don't really know what could have been done. I have a feeling that Jono would have been much more of a toss about it.

He might crack the ton, infact he probably will but 150 is a bit much.

CK wrote:I read the article on pages 4 and 5 of the Sunday Mail about Callington with interest today. I only hope that it achieves the desired effect of getting more players to the club, although wonder how many quality players, that are not already signed, are in the marketplace.

All I would say is that I hope it has a positive effect for the club, and doesn't merely serve to highlight their current plight for any potential players for 2010. Sometimes additional publicity in a statewide publication may not have the desired effect.

I read it too CK and also didn't think it would help Cally's cause one bit. I didn't get to any games on Saturday so didn't read the 'Final Siren'. I thought the Mail spread made Cally appear totally resigned to being losers forever. How on earth do they hope to attract quality players after that? Full marks to all who are getting out there every week, and to all who are making it happen behind the scenes. The club has undeniable spirit and resilience, but sooner or later some footy games need to be won. Social clubs or not, we are here to play football and do it as well as possible. That's the core business when all said and done.

Can anyone tell me the general gist of the Final Siren stuff?

kangy definatly ran out of fitness. this was evident in both grades as both were up and then died in the final minutes. kangy also have a real mixture of old and new players and will need more time playing together to really gel as a unit. i think there is the same sort of talent in the side as previous years just not the same level of 'team' yet.

spoke to a few echunga boys yesterday and they were quote 'scared of the semi criminals' in the gumeracha side from what i heard they controlled alot of the game but didnt want the hard ball after a few nasty hits which is uncharacteristic of the demons.

kangy have the magpies this week which hopefully will be a good contest. to be honest im getting tired of watching 20 goal drubbings. close, hard fought games are better for the overall improvement of the comp and teams

bloke who was umpiring the clly/maccy game reckons maccy might push for finals if they get their act together... any thoughts?

Yeah, my thought is they'd want to hurry up, one win doesn't a win-ter make!

Maccy may of looked a million bucks against Cally but lets be honest they were playing against traffic cones. Maccy have had a tough draw so far, probably should of beaten Gums so its hard to say where they are at. Next couple of weeks will be interesting. I think they may push a few sides but will fall short.

Just read in the Country Footy write up thingy in the Sunday mail, under Maccesfield and Key recruits it has Simon Johnson as a key recruit!!
I'd assume that means Termi was the new editor for the Sunday Mail, but i'd assume you'd need to read to be able to do that!

Can't believe that the guy from Meadows who played on Roger on the weekend got in the best players. He only snagged 12 big ones.

He was boasting how he was going to give Roger a football lesson. Yeah that lesson was how to defend very poorly!

Did you see any of the game Tooting? When a side has 60 odd scoring shots and the ball is constantly up in their forward line what would you expect. I know that the lad that stood him is very unhappy with his performance. But I suppose that's football.

Credit where credit is due. What other Full Backs can say they kept a bloke to 11 goals less than they kicked the week before.
