Does anyone know the scores from Ceduna, I haven't heard anything!! I thought a six goal margin to Flinders was pretty good considering the side that was put out, and don't worry OL, City have been embarrasing us for the best part of 30 years....

Who has won the most recent Mortlock out of City & Districts Panther??

I do agree though, that most City players don't give a toss about Association games and that Districts always commit to it. Mind you if money was offered as an incentive I bet some of the big names would have played!!

Can't blame the guys who played on Saturday, at least they were prepared to put their hand up and play, overall the scoreboard wasn't too bad given the team they had..

On a positive note, the U17 game was a cracker, some real quality kids who might have some big future's. Young Caleb Howell from GF was outstanding..

What do you mean us...what's the point of risking your year over an association game where you play with guys you don't give a toss about. I remember asking our guys if they were gonna have 20 year reunion with Rob Banks and Craig Hoare after winning the 2004 Mortlock Shield and they came back with nothing...if it means the difference between winning and losing a premiership why play a game that jeopardises the success of the team that you actually care about....

Pathetic come back Scoob, that win was merely the law of averages. City hadn't beaten Districts since 1978 before that.....

The scoreboard flattered City, it was a 20 goal to 5 game but bad goal shooting and then resting players after half time let City back in and Reads last 4 goals where he was sitting at the back of the pack bludging in the goal square put respectability into it. It was still embarrasing!
Who's Rob Banks and Craig Hoare?
Wallys matchups have to be looked at... Cronin cant play and wherever he went the oposition player dominated wether it was Yabbie or Burger. On a posative note well played to young Rory, Eckerman and Dodd (disposal shocking but least he got a bit of it). The coaching was very ordinary!
Dont make excuses for City scooby they are bad! Fluking a Mortlock every 30 years aint much to be proud of. Did anyone see the Jamie Sellen injury? Was that the weakest thing you have ever seen on a footy field?

Bit harsh to be blaming the coach OL, as Clangers Klenjans once said, you can only piss with the dick you've got.....

OL - for someone who dosent want to offend.....and is a hidden identity.......your talking a whole lot of crap! It really annoys me that you can hide behind this shroud of a secret identity and have a crack at everyone.....very brave buddy!

If you knew the story - and the inability of Lincoln City's top 15 players to play you would understand that the kids that pulled on the guernsey - battled hard all day!.......As far as Wally's coaching goes.....buddy you've just gotta have the cattle.....and he didnt have it! He knew it and still went into the game with a positive attitude.....

The reason most of the squad was Tasmans is because no else wanted to play......he was still ringing players on Saturday morning - get your facts right before you start bagging everyone......left right and centre.......

Districts had a six goal win. Had to chuckle on Friday night listening to Beebs's tips on the TV, City to be too strong for Flinders with the home ground advantage and same for Far West over Districts. Would like to have gotten some odds off him, no idea!!

Totally agree, TTR - OL, what a hero you are. You're talking about players not putting hands up, poor standard etc.
Why the hell is there a rep game THREE weeks into a season anyway?
A joke is you just bagging everyone else.
I also agree with Bridey, most would care more for their club than a 'warm up' rep game.

and I quote....from the illinformed ignorant one......"Did anyone see the Jamie Sellen injury? Was that the weakest thing you have ever seen on a footy field?"

Jamie Sellen's shoulder popped out as he landed in an attempt to mark.........it was popped back in by medical staff and was iced after the game.....the guy has shoulder problems - but still managed to put his hand up to play.......enuf said

Enough said about the rep game on the weekend.... How about the upcoming Mortlock Shield. With the way that it's going to be run this year, we're certainly not going to see the best footy, the best players or best conditions (not that conditions are usually very good). If you want to watch the best game of footy for the whole weekend you will have to get an early park Saturday morning to wqatch a couple of teams kick the dew off!
Also, tactical coaching is going to come into it more and more, who do you play in which game to make sure you get a few wins on the board!
What about the older fellas in the league that just aren't going to make it through 5 games in a weekend, be it shorter games. You can't leave them out because they're the ones that carry and lead sides, but can you pick them in the possibility that they'll play 1 1/2 games on teh saturday and maybe that on the monday?
Representative footy is on the slippery dip and one of those old fashioned metal ones that goes really fast too!

PORT LINCOLN TIMES MATCH REPORTS

Postby steiger » Tue May 23, 2006 9:43 am

What a shame the PLT scribe doesn't give 2 hoots about junior footy. The match reports in today's paper could have been written by someone on the moon. He makes a couple of comments about future stars of the game (no names mentioned), gives quarter by quarter scores and mentions the best players and goal scorers. Pathetic and straight off the sheet handed in by the respective sides after each game and which appear in the Times "Scoreboard".
Kids, and not only the ones playing today, share a common delight in reading about their game, instances of play that are noteworthy and particular players achievements in the game (eg Corey Grove's 6 goals) and for Christ's sake mention WHO THESE PLAYERS ARE.
Kids get a real buzz out of it and I would suggest are disappointed in todays paper.
Week by week all we get in junior footy is match results which is fair enough but for an Association game ??? Please.
As for the Far West v Districts games - well we can only hope that a report will be in Thursday's paper.
If the scribe is not going to do it properly, get someone to do it who will.
Future stars ??? - well treat them like it.

Can I just comment on the poor coverage of the Lincoln Districts game... was there a game on? No scores Sunday Mail or Advertiser, nothing on Radio and nothing in the local Times. Poor performance from the league to not let the public know who won.
