Any truth to the rumour doing the rounds that Mullins is headed for greener pastures, poor form if its true considering Heir knocked back 1200 a game at nuri to stay loyal to the Hawks

Nuri have never offered that sort of money before and never will. Hense why they have been a mid range team the last few years and are losing players and cant keep players at the club because they are tight as a fishes rear end. Wont go with the times so not alot os success there in the next few years one would think.

agreed. nuri have freeloaded of their local talent for a while now. local players who have helped keep them placed mid range and prevented them from well and truly bottoming out. although gun locals wont play for free forever, as we've seen with their captain quitting and heading to the North East. if the club is not being successful and not investing heavily towards future success's you can hardly blame him.

They have spent like that before actually - brown paper bags and the like, but that was a long time ago. All there recent success has come with a focus on local talent, and I guess they are stuck in that mentality. It seems from a distance that they really need to spend some biscuits in a targetted way to augment what they have there.

1200 for a player seems way over what I would expect from them, I wonder if they are trying to go a lot harder this season ?

Probably should transfer this to the right thread but if Nuri are not prepared to pay then being one of the longer trips from Adelaide they'll eventually end up in trouble because once you crash the points system makes it difficult to take off again (unless you're in the SFL)
Simple recruiting math, longer the distance and the more requirements (eg training) to make the trips then the higher the pay, petrol aint free and neither is leaving work early 1-2 times a week for training for six months.

Where is all this local talent coming from? I mean, they've been producing mid range footballers for years!

I do have it on considerably good mail that Nuri have acutally paid near this amount to players in the past, for example a former norwood forward who was up that way. He drove past the gawler based clubs due solely for the cash and I know there are a number of clubs after their current ruckman who is also a former league player. However Sapps is a very good man and staying loyal if he can make it through another season.... while his loyalty may not be 1200 it certainly wouldnt be cheap.

I can guarentee that 1200 was offered to Zack. I had heard 1500 but i saw zack on the weekend and he said that was wrong but on further interogation he said it was 1200

Perhaps the new coach out at Nuri has been able to loosen the purse strings at the club and has dragged the clubl hierarchy out of the 90's. Although surely no North Eastern footaller is worth 1200.

Where are the greener pastures for Mullins Daysof?

was made a substantial offer by tanunda, but believe he has turned it down and is now staying at the hawks

On nuri, i would only be guessing, but Stafford was on about 20k, put Salter in on say 6-8k leaves a fair bit of cash free. This amount of money for a player will become the norm given that nobody can recruit 5 or 6 at a time and with a fair bit of pressure on to make sure you get the right recruits, clubs will have to pay this

No way Stafford would have been on $20K.

Probably a wise decision for Heir not to maked the move for that sort of coin.
