As has been previously said, Dawe, Danielle and Carter will most likely make the squad and given that there has been an inclination in the past to pick young up and comers (i.e. Daniel Waters), it won't surprise to see them perhaps have a look at Aaron Julian from Macclesfield.

In the past daniel waters? Surely NOW he's not seen as an 'up & comer'?

Yes I mean't in the past.
In about '97 or '98 he was picked when he was only about 19 and his form alone didn't justify selection in the team but obviously he was considered someone on the way up and they wanted to expose him to that level of football.

Picking the forward line would produce the most headaches, with Fleet, Dawe, Thomas , Brown, Gordon, Wait, Nunan, Lackenby, Coad, Waters and Smith some names the come to mind. I think they will have to be chosen on form, not reputation as all are great players.

Well, based on form then, one of those can be omitted.

Interesting this year, that Country boys will get a chance to tackle Kangaroo Ilsand, believe the Island boys will be coached by former Sturt, Kilburn, Mt Lofty and Maccy forward Ian Willmott. So it will be an interesting selection just for that side. What of the likes of Julian, Murray, McIntyre, Lallard, Long, Maidment, H. and R. Reid, Abraham, Thorpe, Walker, Wakefield, Burton, N. and B. Pearce, J. Foster, Carter, Peryman, Fox, Bartel, O'Shea (if Lions allowed to play?), Harrison, Smith, Connell, Rankine, Bowden, Slotegraaf, Solly - gee you could on and on .... the possibilities for that side's selection are equally as difficult. There will obviously be those who don't want to play, but I still reckon the Hills will come up with a pretty good line-up for both the Barossa and KI challenges.

What about George, Newland, Staples, Taverner (Uraidla) Medhta, Huff, Cutting, Travis White, Baldock, Artis. (Lofty)

Bentley is the big ruckman from Bridgewater.

I think to be fair alot of those players in the Country comp stand out cause its a average standard.

Dale: For a ten minute job you are pretty much on the money. But I guess with the strength that Hills Central Division has gotten to now, you could include alot more players into that side. I guess you would have to go on form, but its hard to not pick a good player in the side.

Wouldn't want to be the selectors for this side anyway!!

Page is a good coach so I am sure he will have some idea of who will play.

I haven't seen him play this year but I have headr that Alf Stephens hasn't been playing that good this year. I would rate him as one of the best players in the comp when he is playing well.

Anyone got any comments on him and also I am interested to who people on this forum rate as the best players running around at the moment

I was talking in the past in regards to players not picked on form have not had a lot to do with Central comp for some time. Believe it or not there are some quality country players who would easily stand up in the Central, and i say it with no bias. I think these would be Caine Lyn (Echunga), Haydyn Reid, Chad Dawe? (Meadows), Perryman, Carter, Fox (T.V), B.Pearce (kers), Kanga's had some quality but i can't name them (2 or 3), Nige Carman, Mick Jolly (Nairne).
If at first you don't succeed, you're running about average

I think either way, Hills will have a great team.
Chook - from what I have seen and heard...Wood...Trzesinski...Nunan...Exelby...Harkness...Murphy...Ruediger...Brown...Fleet...perhaps all close to stand outs in their respective positions (the ones I know of).
I'd be interested to hear other, obviously we don't all go to all games.

Page did a good job last year with the team and I believe that he deserves another shot at it this year. As for other coaches that could take over the job im not sure. Nathan Grainger is coachign the HFL under 17s so I think that if Page no longer was coaching the team, he would be a good option. I heard that the 17's team is playing tonight, might pop out to have a look at some up and coming talent.
