  That is the biggest load of bull sh*t I have ever read loin chop. There is no way in the world you would want to finish third and face the rangers. (remember 2 or 3 years ago).
I think you had better stick to your WWF

Provided Mallees dont finish 4th........

This week's Football People column takes a look at Western's win in the SA Country Football Championships at Port Pirie last weekend.
It was the zone's first win since 1999 - well done lads.

I think you'll enjoy the quotes from the Southern coach, fellas.

Sour grapes?

Probably expecting to win the thing and ends up losing by a coaching blunder...

At the end of the day, the buck stops with the coach. Someone has to take responsability for the muck up.
Having had my club involved in a similar situation a few years ago, I can tell you who the players lay the blame with..and it is not the opposition team.

“It was a genuine mistake. In the excitement of trying to give everyone a run we made an error early in the second quarter. But, really, there had been only a minute’s play, no-one had scored in that time and it had no bearing on the result. I don’t think the whole thing was in the spirit of the game.” Southern coach David Earl, Southern Times Messenger.

Should WZ have taken the game or possibly done the right thing and handed the game to the team that would have won. Its always an interesting one this when it comes up.

Maybe sending the runner up to the other teams coaches box and say 'Hey we think you have 19 on the field' might have been more in the spirit that the coach is refering to. I tend to agree

Interesting proposition Overloaded.
Maybe the runner could do that and then say, "If you can get him off before I get to the umpire, we won't challenge it". Could open up for some great comedy.

The rule needs to be changed.

Any ideas on what to?

Rule's fine. If you play with 19, you lose your score. Easy.
So you've seen everything have you?

Its to harsh a penalty if one extra bloke is left on for 30 secs after a break. It ruins a whole game and day at the footy. There should be a set penalty of 5 goals, then the game is not all but finisjhed then and there when the count happens. What do you think of that?

You could fix it by agreeing to field as many players as you want and doing away with the bench. Just let 'em all get out and have a trot around.
Seriously though IMHO common sense should have prevailed and since the extra man had absolutley no impact on the game during the 60 seconds he was on the paddock then he should have been told to p1ss off (even redcarded perhaps) and then restart and get on with it. I don't think Western can really say they were the best team of the Carnival even though they won it.

Yes they can. They won it. Full credit to Western. Give the lads some credit instead of putting a dampener on it. They won the carnival.

5 goal penalty gives a side that is in hanging the game a chance to win. If you are 10 goals down then the 5 taken off wont affect the result and shouldnt as you were clearly not the best side if you were down by 10 goals.
I think it is the right penalty, if it happens early in a game then wiping someones score when it is 2 goals to 1 doesnt affect anything but if it becomes 2 goals to -4 goals then the side know they have coppped a penalty and can still win and have to try harder.
If it happens late in a game, the game is OVER but if it was 5 goal penalty imagine the excitement if a team went from 20 points down to 10 points up halfway through the last term.
I think I have found the answer
