West had a good trial with BMW at Melrose. We were down by a few goals after 4 quarters and won by a point after 6 quarters (?)
Sounds like it was more betterer than Quorn carnival anyways!! Two Quorn fullas said they wouldnt go again. Not too well organised and said in the South and Central game ,one team had unda 18s against the others B grade.
I wasnt there just sayin' what I heard.Would a 3 team carnival be better?

its a long day, and it was running behind schedule. i personally think it was ok.. i feel a 20/20 comp held over a few weeks on a friday night (if any place here is possible to play under lights would be great...) would be better with prize $$ up for grabs. 6 team comp, round robin played over 4 weeks, the 1st 3 weeks everyone played eachother. 3 games aa night. the 4th week you play the finals 1st v 2nd, 3rd v 4th... top 3 sides win $$$...

possibly
2 pt augusta team
2 pirie teams
2 northern areas teams..

possibly different venues over the 4 weeks, so each place can get some revenue...
something different i know, but works really well in adelaide and i reckon work really well here...

from another thread but ran into a bloke recently that seemed to know everything about footy in Port Augusta and for that matter he had a opinion on everything discussed that night.Think he was mixed up with Souths as Preseident and his name was Peter Huxtable.
Is he a knowledge box on footy up in your area/

Cheers for the feedback, I would assume that we would try and host the event again (or maybe Lions or Orroroo take over in 2012 for a different venue)
The original concept was South, Lions & Orroroo. Centrals wanted to be apart of it & we welcomed them, knowing that it would extend the day from 6 quarters with 3 teams, to 12 quarters for 4 teams. Which meant more $$$, for both our club & Quorn Junior footballers.

The games were scheduled to finish at 5 & I gave my final address in the rooms at 4:55. Some games did start late, due to one umpiring all day as the other was called into work.

If other surrounding clubs are welcomed to the idea of making it a Friday night comp with $$ on the line, I'm all for making this bigger and better.

Don't hold back 7 Dog, who have you got up your sleeve?

All will be revealed in good time, but I was actually referring to Wade Thompson playing for West.

According to a facebook conversation yesterday, Sollies have recruited 2002 Jason Robinson back to the club. Is one of the best footballers I have played against.

Apparently Robertson not coming and also spotted and interesting one on the clearances
Solomontown to Proprietary/Risdon Football Club Tee, Craig Denied 10/04/11 10/04/11

Also Sieber has cleared home to Tanunda unfortunately for Lions

Have you 'revealed' anyone yet 7dog?

All the recruits played in the Carnival on the weekend.

Yeah, I saw that Seiber got in the best for Tanunda the other day.
That's a bit different seeing Tee applying for a clearance.

If that it is the standard of umpiring up here then I am more than happy. I only saw the last game and I hardly noticed the umpires out there which usually means they did a great job.
Coming from the Hills where I feel there are a couple umpires who like to influence games a little too much and have the spotlight on themselves. I see a few disgruntled posters on the Hills Central forum complaining about an umpire who's been doing his best to sway results for years.
Oh well, play the whistle, that's all you can do!..

SGL clearances

Postby straight talker » Tue Apr 12, 2011 1:49 pm

Bit of a chat about the ability of some of the recruits- Lions- Leske cant play. Mellow cant play was only a fair "B" grader for the brookies Kane wallace cant play doesnt like training and spends most of his fridy and saturdy nights out at clubs. Chad Hawley has been everywhere man getn on and didnt do anything when he was here a few years back. Ports have some quality recruits . Sollies also have some recruits from good areas but dont know much about them can someone add anything please?? ;) OH and i forgot David Smith for lions well um what can i say he looked ok when he was 15 then injured all the time and had to go where eva his father coached to get a game!! Hence it has been a pretty ordinary coaching career!!! :D

Sollies have Stinger Hastings from the Brook, very tidy player, another onballer fitzgerald from ammos i thinks who is reported to be ok and another ex junior jay williams back from kntfl and is a good winger/flanker from what has been said, plus nathan white from port who has been playing ntfl, not sure what grade
